Dieser Metalleffekt wurde dabei bisher vorwiegend durch Aufdampfen eines Metalles auf die Oberfläche des vorgebildeten Kunststofformkorpers im Hochvakuum erzielt. Die so hergestellten, Metalleffekte aufweisenden Bänder, Zierleisten oder dgl. bzw. das zu ihrer Herstellung verwendete Verfahren weisen jedoch zahlreiche Nachteile auf. So ist das Aufdampfen der Metallschicht umständlich und verhltnismässig unwirtschaftlich. Auch sind die zur Durchführung des Aufdampfvorganges erforderlichen Vorrichtungen außerordentlich kostspielig. Darüber hinaus ist die durch Aufdampfen gebildete Metallschicht nicht immer genügend abriebfest und zeigt häufig eine ungleichmäßige Oberfläche.
