Der Belag kann gleichzeitig zu einer mechanischen Verstärkung oder Versteifung bestimmter Partien des Hemdes, z. B. des Kragenausschnittes oder der Manschetten, dienen. Zu diesem Zweck kann er auch über den Bereich hinaus, in dem eine Abdeckung oder ein Austausch des aus Mischgarn hergestellten Wirkstoffes notwendig ist, geführt sein, z. B. als Untertritt am Halsausschnitt. Am Kragen oder an den Manschetten kann ferner dadurch, daß der hautsympathische Belagstoff ein entsprechendes Aussehen in Bezug auf Oberfläche und Farbe aufweist, eine zusätzliche ästhetische Wirkung und damit eine Erhöhung des Kaufreizes erreicht werden.
