Die Lage der Siebe b kann beliebig, horizontal, vertikal oder geneigt sein. Ebenso kann die Entfernung zwischen Filtermaterial und Sieben beliebig groß gewählt werden. Man hat es nun vollkommen in der Hand, die Strömungsgeschwindigkeit so zu regeln, daß entweder die Sieblöcher ganz frei bleiben und die Flüssigkeit unbehindert hindurchlassen, oder daß das Filtermaterial nur gelockert wird und sich mit leichtem Druck gegen die Siebflächen legt. In jedem Falle ist die Höhe der Filtermaterialsäule ohne Einfluß.
