Der Umstand, dafs Bürsten, nachdem deren Borsten abgenutzt sind, unbrauchbar werden, war Veranlassung, die auf beiliegender Zeichnung, Fig. ι und 2, dargestellte Anordnung zu wählen, wodurch erzielt wird, dafs beim Einziehen den Borsten eine bedeutende Länge gegeben werden kann, ohne die zur Function derselben erforderliche Steifheit zu beeinträchtigen. Das Bürstenholz A besteht aus zwei Theilen α und b, in welch letzterem die Borsten fest eingezogen sind und, durch α hindurchgehend, den eigentlichen Bürstentheil bilden. Die Bürstentheile α und b sind durch Blechstreifen, die in α und b festgenagelt oder eingeschraubt, mit einander verbunden. Sobald sich die über α herausragenden Borsten bis zur Unbrauchbarkeit abgenutzt haben, wird das Holz α von b durch Lösen der Verbindungsstücke entfernt, und es steht von neuem eine Borstenlänge zur Verfügung, die eine weitere Benutzung der Bürste gestattet. Es wird hierdurch eine wesentlich längere Brauchbarkeit der Bürste erzielt, ohne dafs die Arbeit des Borsteneinziehens vermehrt würde, wie auch durch diese Manipulation der Preis der Bürste im Verhältnifs zur vervielfachten Brauchbarkeit sich bedeutend verringert. The brush parts α and b are connected to one another by sheet metal strips which are nailed or screwed into α and b. As soon as the bristles protruding above α have worn down to the point of uselessness, the wood α is removed from b by loosening the connecting pieces, and a new bristle length is available that allows further use of the brush. The brush can be used for a much longer period of time without increasing the work of drawing in the bristles, and this manipulation also significantly reduces the price of the brush in relation to the increased usefulness. This arrangement of two pieces of wood α and b on top of each other can be used with brushes of any kind.

Patent claim:

Brushes whose peculiarity consists in the fact that, in order to extend the useful life, the brush is fixed in a brush wood b and guided in a wood a until wood a is removed when the brush is worn and a new length of bristles is brought into action.
