Kupplungskomponente bedeuten.Water-insoluble monoazo dyes The present invention relates to monoazo dyes of the general formula wherein at least one of the two substituents Y and Z is an alkylsulfonyl group with up to 2 carbon atoms, the optionally remaining substituent Y or Z is nitro or cyano and X is the remainder of one of water-soluble. making groups mean free coupling component.
The dyes according to the invention can be prepared in a manner known per se. They are obtained, for example, by using amines of the general formula in which Y and Z have the meanings given, diazotized by customary processes and then coupled with coupling components of the general formula HX which are free from water-solubilizing groups. The dyes according to the invention can also be obtained according to the teachings of the patent ...... (Az. C 39 172 IVc / 22a) and its additional patents, by adding dyes which contain a cyano group at the points in which the end dye should carry a halogen atom, with an alkali metal or alkaline earth metal cyanide in the presence of a copper (I) compound in an inert organic solvent, the halogen atoms being exchanged for cyano groups. Suitable coupling components in the claimed dyes are all coupling components of the aromatic and heterocyclic series that have become known in the disperse dye field. Coupling components which are derived from optionally further substituted primary, secondary and tertiary anilines and naphthylamines are of particular importance. The dyes according to the invention are particularly suitable for dyeing and printing on structures made of synthetic materials, such as cellulose acetate or cellulose triacetate and, in particular, polyester materials based on polyethylene glycol terephthalate. Dyeing and printing processes strong dyeings and prints with very good fastness properties, in particular excellent lightfastness and sublimation fastness. The materials mentioned can be printed in such a way that the goods printed with the dyes produced according to the invention are steamed in the presence of a carrier at temperatures between about 95-110o or in the absence of a carrier at about 120-140o or treated by the so-called heat-setting process will. Dyeing with the dyes which can be prepared according to the invention is expediently carried out from an aqueous suspension in the presence of carriers between about 80-110 °, in the absence of carriers between about 110-140 ° and also by the so-called heat-setting process. Example 1 : 24.1 g of 2-cyano-4-nitro-6-methylsulfonylaniline are stirred into 107 g of nitrosylsulfuric acid (prepared from 7 g of sodium nitrite and 100 g of sulfuric acid) at 15-20 °. At about 100 , 100 g of glacial acetic acid are added to the solution, 100 g of ice are added at about 0 0 and the mixture is stirred for a further 1/2 hour. The diazo solution thus obtained is allowed to run into a solution of 20.6 g of N, N-diethyl-N'-acetyl-m-phenylenediamine in 200 ml of 10% strength sulfuric acid to which 100 g of ice have been added. The reaction mixture is diluted with plenty of water, and the dye which has separated out is filtered off with suction and washed neutral with water. A dye is obtained in this way which, in finely dispersed form, dyes polyester material in blue shades of excellent fastness properties. The same dye is obtained if 51.2 g of 2-bromo-4-nitro-6-methylsulfonyl-1-Z4'-diethylamino-2'-acetylaminophenylazo% benzene are added in 100 g of dimethylformamide with 9 g of copper (I) cyanide and 1 g of sodium cyanide heated to 100o for 15 minutes. During the subsequent cooling, the dye also obtained according to paragraph 1 of this example crystallizes out.
