Bekanntlich werden derartige Speicherofen in der Regel nachts aufgeheizt, z. B. mittels des relativ billigen Nachtstromes, worauf dann am Tage der als Wärmespeicher dienende Ofenkörper die Wärme an den zu beheizenden Raum, vorzugsweise mittels der durchgeblasenen Luft, abgibt. Speicherofen der beschriebenen Ausführungsform sind insofern vorteilhaft, als sie keine Lagerung von Heizmaterial, wie z. B. Öl, Kohle, Holz od. dgl. erfordern und dementsprechend einfach und sauber betrieben werden können. Nachteilig ist dagegen, daß der Einbau der Speicherofen, die im allgemeinen wie die Heizkörper einer Zentralheizung in Nischen, insbesondere Fensternischen eingesetzt werden sollen, nicht ohne weiteres durchführbar ist, weil die Speicherofen tiefer als die Fensternischen sind und in der Höhe nicht unter den Betonsturz der Fensterbank passen. Tatsächlich sind bis jetzt weder die Installationsgehäuse noch die Fensternischen genormt. Es müssen daher häufiu nachträglich die Fensternischen nachgearbeitet werden, um die Installationsgehäuse einzupassen, was nicht nur umständlich ist, sondern auch eine beträchtliche und unerwünschte Verschmutzung des Wohn raumes mit sich bringt, wenn man berücksichtigt, daß regelmäßig die Speicherofen erst eingebaut werden, wenn der gesamte Wohnraum bereits fertiggestellt is·.. Dadurch läßt sich zwar die Verkleidung zur Vermeidung von Beschädigungen getrennt transportieren und nachträglieh montieren sowie auswechseln, die Probleme um den nachträglichen Einbau von Wärmespeicheröfen in dafür vorgesehene Nischen bzw.
