Description
Konde'naatoren und dgl.i bestehen.
The critical feature of the invention is that shear lines extend across the backing plate 10 . The shear is a perfect cut through the ceramic layer or plate.
So
According to the embodiment in FIGS. 4 and 5 , continuous shear or dividing lines 17 are used in addition to the grooved lines 18 of partial incisions. Here, especially in this embodiment, the lines of grooves or indentations, which can be drawn as lines of partial incision, are the equivalent of the complete incision lines. They can extend completely across a layer without interruption. They allow breaking at the groove or indentation line in order to obtain neatly defined edges or peripheral margins. As shown, the parting lines 17 are substantially parallel and are intersected by at least one (and optionally multiple) scoring line or scoring lines 18 of deepening partial incision. The partial section of the depression or groove extends essentially up to about 0.4 or optionally 0.5 of the thickness of the layer. At least 0.2 of the thickness of the layer must be cut with the hill or deepening tool. The shear or parting lines of the assembled panels according to FIGS. 4 and 5 are always such that the cut edges (in contrast to the grooved or recessed) of a partial panel are at least as long as the grooved edges around the individual partial panel. The partial panels are therefore largely pre-cut that at least 40, 50 or 60% of their circumference are pre-cut. In general, even at least 70 or 80% of the circumference of the partial panels are completely pre-cut in this embodiment and therefore have neatly delimited edges. Again, as in the embodiment according to FIG. 3, the dividing lines should not extend as far as the edges of the assembled panels. Enough of the uncut edge material is left to maintain the integrity of the composite panel in the time consuming prior electronic manipulation. However, wherever indentations are made, it is of course possible to extend the replacement of the incision lines by indentation completely to the edge of the material layer. However, the total circumferential length of a partial plate should never be less than 70 % of the same, determined by predetermined circumferential lines, whether cut or recessed, and this predetermined circumference is preferably at least 80 or 90% or more, either cut or grooved .
It should be noted that components (elements) of this illustrated embodiment of the invention can be combined with one another to provide modifications to the specific explanations. If so desired, the assembled carriers can also carry a pattern of perforations within the sub-panels which are to be broken away or pinched off from the assembled structure, as is desired or needed for the electronic accessories to the carrier In the most ideal practice of the invention, at least 90% of the perimeter of the part panels to be severed from a composite panel are precut or cut entirely through the thickness of the ceramic forming the composite panel, but in all cases at least 5% of the perimeter is the part -Plates free from cuts.
The size of the sub-panels (composite panels may have any size have to handle) is rarely flächemmäßig more than 6,452 cm 2, usually not more than 39226 cm y 'surface. In fact, most sub-panels are in the range of about 0.6452 - # 0.006452 cm in area. Each composite support sheet has at least four sub-panels, usually at least six or eight, and up to 100 or more sub-panels on.
As a specific example of the invention, one can produce an alumina carrier plate having the following analysis of inorganic oxides: 95.5 % A12 0 3 9 392% S'02t 191% Mg01 092 % 0a0. During manufacture, the raw material for the film, which has preferably been ground to the desired particle size (usually 44 microns), is homogeneously mixed by treating in a ball mill with organic binder components and a volatile diluent in which the binder components are at least easily diapergeable . A typical system of binder and diluent for about 76 parts by weight of ceramic particles consists of a mixture, b OVERTIGHTEN by weight, from about 2.5 Yeilen a binder resin (for example polyvinyl butyral), 1 part of a plasticiser for the binder resin (for example Triäthylenglykolhexoat), 0 , 2 parts of a wetting agent (e.g. alkyl ether polyethylene glycol) and about 20 parts of a volatile liquid carrier (e.g. toluene), in which the other-organ . ical constituents are praiseworthy. After treating this slip mixture for several hours in a ball mill, it can be used and is applied as a coating, for example by coating with a knife, to a smooth support, for example cellophane, with a uniform thickness and an essentially uniform density. The coating thickness is chosen so that a final fired sheet or layer is formed within the limits for use as a support as described above. The volatile carrier is removed from the coating by means of forced air drying; and a pattern of separating lines, as explained above, is then cut into the dry "green" ceramic film before firing. The precut film is then fired on refractory burners on a 33 hour firing cycle with a three hour annealing period of approximately 1675 90 * It is important to maintain the composition and density uniformity for the green ceramic prior to firing so that changes in the thickness of the precut composite The ceramic plate can be reduced to a minimum during the Brenneas and prevented give U the precut '£ racing lines fuse together the composition of the ceramic mass is fireproof their jeschaffenheit to the extent that it does not melt during firing or flows;. it sinters as it on the £' -eramikgebiet is normal.
Then, if desired, a glaze can be applied to one surface of the ceramic in order to give it a higher degree of smoothness, as is required for certain applications of metal (e.g. deposition by vapor deposition) for highly miniaturized electronic circuit systems. The glaze is normally composed of a vitreous -asse that is free of Na 2 0 and K 2 0, or of these substances contains very little (for example, no more than about 5 wt .-% of the total icing). Glaau coatings applied to a composite panel tend to spread continuously and smoothly over the entire panel surface, without interruption at the dividing lines. This is usually desirable because consumers prefer glass overcoats that do not have beaded edges and rims, but that remain flat even to the extreme edge of a sub-panel. The glaze coating can easily be broken at the portion that extends over the dividing lines using bending or flat-nose pliers with rubber at the tip or the like. After the elements of the electronic circuit or circuit system (e.g. made of silver, copper , Aluminum, etc.) have been arranged on the composite plate in a repeated pattern as desired. However, glaze coatings are unnecessary for a large number of carriers of small size, such as those required in the sheet electronics industry.
A particularly desirable feature of the composite panels of Figures 1 and 2 resides in the fact that electrically conductive lines can be placed on the composite panel to extend from one sub-panel to the other at the point or area of the broken line of separation. In this way, no overflow or run-off of electrically conductive material is possible. The fact that there is a continuous electrical pattern pervading the entire unified carrier over all of its sub-panels makes electroplating very easy.
