ARWIN BODO WALTHER in DRESDEN. Schlafapparat für Kranke.ARWIN BODO WALTHER in DRESDEN. Sleeping machine for the sick.
Patentirt im Deutschen Reiche vom 28. Juli 1881 ab.Patented in the German Empire on July 28, 1881.
The purpose of the present apparatus is to enable people suffering from respiratory problems, back inflammation, etc., in short, all those who find it difficult to remain in a horizontal position for a long time, to be able to sleep soundly in a sitting position. The inventor achieves this by means of a device which is essentially composed of belts and which is used to support the patient, as is illustrated in the accompanying drawing. The apparatus is suspended from a crossbeam A by means of two straps or straps α , which is supported either by two trestles B or in some other way.
These straps end in loop-like support straps f for the arms, which are connected to one another at the bottom by a transverse strap ε (FIG. 1, front view). The patient's back is supported by a horizontal transverse band c and two crossed bands d , while band b is attached to support the forehead. In order to provide a larger support surface for the forehead and the arms, supports g respectively are on the forehead band b and the support bands f. Protective flaps h arranged. The length of the cross-beam A is to be arranged expediently so that the patient's bed can find space between the trestles B , so that the patient is not obliged to leave the bed. The individual straps are provided with buckles so that they can be lengthened or shortened accordingly; Headband b and back band c can be moved so that they can be adjusted according to the patient's stature. The protective caps h prevent the elbows from slipping out. In addition, the mode of operation of the apparatus can be easily understood from the figures. The traverse A can also be hung from the ceiling using cords.
