Description
KAISERLICHESIMPERIAL
PATENTAMT.PATENT OFFICE.
It is known that for the purpose of trimming or splitting roles Rotating circular knives made of paper or another material are wound into them the roll forming the fabric can be cut. ■ Up to now one has either thicker cutter disks with conical bevel or cutter disks ■ on shafts or rollers were used, the latter limiting the cutting of the knives into the fabric . and should prevent cutting too deep. But such knives are not very suitable to create a razor-sharp and smooth cut because the incision in the roll becomes too wide and thus the winding, to be cut through The compact base is removed from the paper at this point. In addition, the acquisition and maintenance costs are these Knives so high that in many cases they are not used at all is profitable. For example, a shaft with 80 knives, which originally all have exactly the same diameter, used to cut a number of rolls during which work the knives have to be sharpened several times. This creates even small ones Deviations in the diameter size of the knives. Should now after completion of this Work wider roll strips which only need 40 knives on the shaft condition, 40 knives are removed from the shaft and the 40 remaining knives are smaller due to the second work become. So there are now 40 smaller and 40 larger knives. In this way, knives of the most varied are made Diameters, which are to be sorted into the same sizes. So you need to sort a number of the same size Knives to get a very large stock of knives.
In order to avoid all of these inconveniences, knife disks are used according to the present invention used, which are made of paper-thin sheet steel (punched out) and not specially sanded at their edges because the edges are as sharp as an ordinary knife edge are. Only if an even greater sharpness is desired or the edges as a result of the If there is a burr on the punching out, the edges can be thinned by for example, you hold a file or a scraper against the rotating knife. In any case, the high costs that arise when you thicker disks must be provided with cutting by real grinding, because the edges of the disks there are no cutting edges themselves. As the manufacturing cost for the used here Cutting disks are very small, a large number of cutting disks can be kept in stock. One completely Sufficient rigidity of these thin cutter disks is obtained by having a get particularly high rotational speed, the latter also to achieve a especially smooth cut. The discs can be spaced accordingly be attached to a shaft or axis

den, deren Abstand zum zunehmenden Umfang der Stoffrolle, welche durch Aufwickeln des zu schneidenden Stoffes entsteht, selbsttätig geregelt wird.the, whose distance to the increasing circumference of the roll of fabric, which by winding of the material to be cut is created, is regulated automatically.
For example, the knife shaft α has a special drive (pulley b), by means of which it is turned around significantly faster than the circumference of the paper roll, that is to say it is in advance of the circumference of the paper roll. On the shaft sit as a knife thin steel ring disks c of about Y 10 mm thickness, which z. B. are separated from one another by intermediate layers d at the intervals in which the incisions are to be made in the paper roll. The ■ edges of the circular knives protrude slightly above the intermediate layers and form the knife edges which, due to the very rapid rotation, stiffen so that they cut through the paper and several layers at the same time sharply and smoothly without bending over. The circular knives and intermediate layers can be exchanged for different sized knives and intermediate layers as required.
