Die Erfindung bezieht sich auf einen elektrischen Widerstandsofen insbesondere zur Erhitzung gasförmiger Medien mit in einem Strömungskanal angebrachten Heizelementen aus elektrisch-isolierenden Hohlkörpern, in denen die unmittelbar vom Medium umströmten Heizleiter angeordnet sind. Ein solcher Widerstandsofen ist aus der US-PS 32 70 182 bekannt. Dabei sind die elektrisch-isolierenden Hohlkörper in einem einheitlichen, größeren Isolierblock zusammengefaßt. Die Heizelemente bestehen aus keramischen Rohren 1, in die zu Spiralen gewickelte Heizleiter eingeschoben sind, und die an der Innenwand der keramischen Rohre 1 anliegen. Diese Heizanordnung 4 wird, wie in F i g. 2 dargestellt, in einem zylindrischen Ofengehäuse 5 angeordnet, an dessen beiden Stirnseiten Rohrstutzen 6 und 7 sowie Flansche 8 und 9 zur Befestigung von (nicht dargestellten) Leitungen für das aufzuwärmende bzw. erwärmte gasförmige Medium angebracht sind.
