Description

Method and device for producing textiles which have threads made of foam that run in the warp direction Have threads made of foam. The garments made from this, mostly as Raschelware, are pleasant and comfortable to wear and warm extremely well ... It has been shown that, in a modification of the manufacturing process claimed according to the main patent, it is possible to produce items of clothing that are comfortable to wear and excellently warm, which additionally have the property of being highly buoyant in the water, so that, in an emergency, they are like life jackets and life belts, works. This is achieved according to the invention in that foam threads with closed-cell pores and preferably circular cross-sections are used, which are produced by extrusion of foamable polyethylene Mistake. However, rubber is used as the material for these foam threads. However, textiles containing foam rubber are not comfortable to wear and are not boil-proof. In particular, the. Rubber becomes brittle after a while and sticks to the textile threads. The foam threads used according to the invention must have special properties. This includes a very low volume weight, full-cell pores, resistance to aging, sufficient mechanical strength and preferably a circular cross-sectional shape, since only this cross-sectional shape can withstand greater water pressure without compression. It is also required that no swelling or absorption of water occurs and that the textile remains flexible in the cold and is odorless.

A material that meets these requirements well is cellular polyethylene. Of these, low-pressure polyethylenes which can easily be foamed by extrusion are particularly suitable. Cell polyethylene copolymers, for example ethylene-propylene copolymers, furthermore ter-polymers of ethylene, ethylene-propylene, diclopentadiene ter-polymer, ethylene-propylene-dicyclooctadiene-1,5-ter-polymer, are also well suited for the process , also copolymers of ethylene-vinyl acetate and ethylene-ethyl acrylate. These copolymers have advantages because of their rubber-like properties. Example A by extruding Niederdruekpolyaethylen Zellpolyaethylen manufactured with closed cell pores of circular cross-section with a diameter of 6.mm, is in the form of approximately 100 m long individual strings on a warp beam @ h. The width of the warp beam corresponds to the working width of the Raachel machine and is connected to the Raschel machine in the arrangement described in the main patent, omitting the cutting device. For the action of the'Zellpolyethylene foam threads expediently chosen a Teatilfasermaterial, which is the same if it has no water absorption capacity and that specific weight is less than 1, e.g. threads made of poly- propylene.
