Die zylindrische Bohrung im Lagerschild darf nur so tief sein, daß sich beim Anziehen der Lagerkappe ein fester Sitz des Kugellagers . ergibt; d.h. die Stirnfläche des Kugellagers muß etwas aus der Anlagefläche des Lagerschildes für die Lagerkappe hervorstehen. Beim Anziehen der Befestigungsschrauben der Lagerkappe tritt so-mit ein erhebliches.Biegemoment auf, welches die zylindrische Bohrung im Lagerschild oval verformt. Diese Verformung wird auch auf den Außenring des Kugellagers übertragen, so daß je nach dem Verformungsgrad mehr oder weniger starke Kugellagergeräusche auftreten. Es hat sich gezeigt, daß trotz Einhaltung engster Fertigungstoleranzen es. nicht möglich ist, wirxsame.Abhilfe gegen Kugellagergeräusche bzw. -susfall zu schaffen. Das wird gemäß der Erfindung dadurch erreicht, daß die Lagerkappe elastisch ausgebildet ist. Vorzugsweise sind in der Lagerkappe im wesent- lichen konzentrisch angeordnete Schlitze vorgesehen. Hierbei kann jeder Befestigungsschraube ein Schlitz zugeordnet sein. Es ist vorteilhaft, daß die Schlitze auf verschiedenen konzentrischen Kreisen angeordnet sind und sich zumindest teilweise überlappen. Durch die elastische Ausführung der Lagerkappe tritt eine wesent- liche Herabsetzung der Kugellagergeräusche ein, da die Biege-spannung im Lagerschild um ein mehrfaches herabgesetzt werden kann. Ferner können die Fertigungstoleranzen gröber sein und es können auch normale Kugellager verwendet werden: Außerdem kann eine. stirnseitige Bearbeitung der Lagerkappe sowie der Anlageflächen am Lagerschild entfallen.
