Description
It has now been found that the surface of a base web can be provided with a cover layer without impairing the permeability if a nonwoven made of thin continuous fibers is pinned on as uniformly as possible using the so-called direct method. This is to be understood as follows: A melt of a thermoplastic material is spun out of a large number of closely spaced openings lying on a straight line. This creates a group of threads, as can be seen from the drawings in Swiss Patent 405 220 or French Patent 2 402 829 and 1 364 916, US Patent 3 148 101 and German Offenlegungsschrift 1 435 461 .
This group of threads is now applied directly to the surface of the base sheet spun. The spinning conditions will be described in detail later. There If the threads are still sticky on the base sheet, they will be attached to the Immediately firmly connected to the base. A subsequent slipping of the uniform Covered fleece_is therefore not possible to use such a direct method synthetic leather base material spun onto a fleece made of endless thermoplastic threads Already slide up a pleasing surface. To the surface structure To improve further, the fleece coated according to the invention is pressed in the heat preferably with the simultaneous addition of small amounts of a customary finishing varnish, e.g. "Corial matt lacquer": However, this heat-pressure treatment is not possible to accomplish, for example, by simply passing the coated fleece through the Running gap of a rolling mill. Some of the spun fleece threads remain namely hang on the hot roller surfaces' even if they are covered with Teflon or other repellent coatings are provided. This is the further pressing process so disturbed that usable end products are no longer obtained. For this reason_presses one using a so-called: follower. A preferred embodiment of the The invention can be seen from the accompanying FIG.
A web of the already buffed base material is continuously unwound from roll A. The web then runs away under the spinneret B 'w® a thread sheet of a thermoplastic material emerges. The endless threads, while still sticky, reach the base sheet for storage and stick there. Then the spun base web passes through the gap: the pair of rollers C. The upper roller is made of steel. Depending on which polymeric substance was spun onto the base sheet, it is heated to around 120 to 2®0®C. Higher temperatures should be avoided, as otherwise the endless threads will be rolled out into a closed film. You then get an impermeable top layer again. Under the hot steel roller is a cotton roller®. Both whales are touching under a line pressure of 10 to 5®: kg / cm.
A paper web also runs over the upper steel roller at the same time D into the gap. The paper is coated on one side with silicone or chrome stearate, so that its adhesion opposite other substances are greatly reduced will. Such papers are also known in Germany as "Releasing Papers". The paper web runs into the gap in such a way that the silicone or chrome "tearate" side comes to lie on the surface of the spun synthetic leather base material web (Instead of a coated paper web, a Teflon film could also be used). Shortly before the entry of the idler track D into the gap of the rolling mill C one leaves drip or pour a little finishing varnish E onto the silicone side.
If now the spun base web runs into the gap of the rolling mill C. then the silicone side of the idler belt presses against the spun-on fleece. Since the top roller is also heated, the heat from the top roller penetrates through the Follower paper and causes a softening of the spun threads. Under the The initially round threads are affected by the pressure exerted at the same time of the spun-on fleece flattened.
Die Fig. 2 zeigt schematisch den Querschnitt eines aufgesponnenen Fadens vor dem Einlauf in, den Spalt des Walzwerkes C Fig. 3 zeigt schematisch den Querschnitt eines aufgesponnenen Fadens nach dem Passieren des Spaltes des Walzwerkes C.Fig. 2 shows schematically the cross section of a spun Thread before entering, the gap of the rolling mill C Fig. 3 shows schematically the Cross-section of a spun thread after passing the gap in the rolling mill C.
By flattening the synthetic fibers spun onto the base sheet with the simultaneous application of a customary finishing varnish, the appearance of the Significantly improved surface. After passing the gap of the rolling mill C, the base web together with the laminated follower runs onto a supply roll F. In Fig. 1 is a part of the laminated idler belt D again between C and F removed to show that the base web is still under the idler belt A with the threads that have been spun and now flattened.
Since the laminated idler band D is very difficult to attach to the flattened If it adheres to spun plastic threads after cooling, it can be easily removed again pull off. The base sheet with the improved surface is then obtained. The Mitlauferbahn can u: u. be used multiple times: When the surface of a substrate e mostly a fiber sheet - was covered according to the invention, so the water vapor permeability of the substrate practically not affected. The high one should also be noted Abrasion resistance of the surface layer spun on according to the invention. This high Abrasion resistance is believed to be a result of the use of endless threads the creation of the top layer.
From US patent specification f2 765 247 it is already known to have a Coarse-fiber mat on one or both sides with a thin fleece made of short fibers coat (before: Figtr 1 there). Then this fabric is with impregnated with a binder. In this way a material is already obtained a usable top layer.
Much better, nicer and more abrasion-resistant top layers are given. you lose when the short fibers are replaced by continuous fibers o Furthermore necessary to open these endless threads directly so that they are still sticky State on the substrate. It would also be technically possible to first use a fleece . aas endless threads on one s? to produce likonized paper web One could then the veil-like fleece after the threads have cooled down from the siliconized one Peel off the paper web and place it on any substrate. It However, it is then difficult to establish a firm bond between the substrate and the cover fleece to reach. These difficulties are also present in the US patent process 2 765 247 available. Therefore, short fibers are placed on a flat structure there, which does not yet contain any binding agent. Only then are the substrate and top layer (both Fiber sheet) impregnated together.
With this impregnation (and incidentally already when laying short fibers on a coarse fiber mat) the fibers of both layers will partially intermingle. Coarse fibers then also reach the surface, reducing their appearance and In turn, abrasion resistance is impaired.
According to the invention, however, it is possible to use an already impregnated Anchored nonwoven web firmly with a top layer of endless threads. There on the In addition, the surface are only extremely uniformly deposited continuous threads (a mixture with the fibers of the substrate is not possible because there the fibers through the binder are firmly connected), it offers a more uniform picture than a surface in which short fine and coarse fibers are jumbled together.
As already mentioned above, the appearance of the surface is further improved if the cover layer is subjected to a heat-pressure treatment in which the threads are pressed flat, for example. However, such flattening is according to the method of US Patent 2,765,247 is not possible.
The best results are obtained when using them at the same time a .Schlußlackes, which the tight mesh of the spun continuous fiber fleece covered and does not penetrate into the layer underneath the bar. This is just too possible in working according to the present invention, but not in any Procedure. The high abrasion resistance of the invention: spun Top layer is not just a result of the use of filaments. - Please note is also still that the threads during their way between the openings of the spinneret B and the impact on the base web-A (see Fig. 1) are stretched. The openings the spinneret are known to be closely spaced on a straight line. On both sides the straight lines formed by the spinning openings have slit-shaped openings, from which air flows out in the form of a band: These air bands that have a substantial Have speed, now pull on those emerging from the spinning orifices Threads (the speed of which is relatively low) and stretch them: equal, the speed with which the endless threads strive towards the base web becomes early, always. bigger. At the moment of filing, the still sticky threads @ of one diameter shot from about 2 to 20 tu at speeds of 690 to 500 m / min. This promotes their anchoring with the base sheet.
The distance between spinneret B and base web A must be proportionate be short, otherwise the threads of the sheet of threads will be drawn before they hit the Base web A tangle with each other. There would then be lumps and lumps of fiber form, which after their deposition on the surface: the base web A is an extremely irregular Image. It has been found empirically that distances between 10 and 40 cm are preferable.
The arrangement of the air slots on the left and right of the spinning openings. can be taken from the literature, e.g. 8: aüs. der French Patent 1,364,916 will. There you will also find information about the diameter of the spinning orifices, their Number, mutual Distance and the like (those in this patent The air channels mentioned above for evenly guiding the thread sheets are not here required because the distance between the spinning orifices and the base web is small. Of the a small distance is also necessary so that the threads are still sticky arrive at the base train).
According to the invention, two cover layers can also be applied directly to a substrate spin up. For this it is only necessary to be a certain distance behind the first Spinneret B to arrange another spinneret, from which then another polymer Substance than is spun out of the first nozzle. So it is sometimes beneficial particularly soft and sticky threads from the first spinneret and from the second spinneret on the other hand, it is harder to spin out threads that are less sticky. The harder threads whose adhesive strength itself is perhaps too weak to be firmly attached to the base sheet adhere, are then firmly connected to the base by means of the softer adhesive threads. Harder threads are usually desired on the surface because they increase the abrasion resistance is increased.

The nozzle was at a distance of 250 mm at right angles to the web arranged so that the row of spinning holes extends over the entire width of the web to be coated extended. The web was then electrically heated by one of the upper ones Steel roll and lower cotton roll sent to existing calenders. The steel roller had a temperature of 2800C, the cotton counter roll was unheated. The line pressure was 15 kg / cm. From above, a paper web was passed over the steel roll into the nip (Jüllicher adhesive paper Type II W / 305) supplied so that the spun size was covered with the paper: the one facing the spun-on polyurethane layer The paper side had previously been coated with 4 g / m2 Corial matt lacquer. During the The varnish layer was transferred to the polyurethane layer by pressing. To After complete cooling, the paper web was separated from the coated web.
