Der auf beiliegender Zeichnung dargestellte Dampfkessel ist ein sogenannter Wasserröhrenkessel. Derselbe besteht aus den aus Schmiedeisen zusammengenieteten horizontal liegenden Rohren abc und d, dem Dampfsammler e, den vertical stehenden schmiedeisernen Siederöhren/", den Field'schen Röhren g und dem schmied- oder gufseisernen Rohr h mit den daran befestigten Field'schen Röhren i. Die oberen Rohre α und b sind mit den unteren Rohren c und d durch die Siederöhren f verbunden. In dem vorderen Theil des Kessels über dem Feuerrost hefinden sich die Field'schenRöhren^. Dieselben sind in die beiden oberen Rohre a und b eingeschraubt. Direct unter diesen beiden Rohren in der Mitte des Kessels befindet sich das schräg liegende gufs- oder schmiedeiserne Rohr h, welches auf seiner ganzen Länge die Field'schen Röhren i trägt. Quer über den beiden horizontal liegenden Röhren α und b befindet sich der Dampfsammler e, an welchem sich die Stutzen zur Anbringung des Sicherheitsventils und des Absperrventils befinden.
