Die vorliegende Erfindung betrifft die Abdichtung von Achsbüchsen von Eisenbahnfahrzeugen mittels eines die Dichtungsmanschette an den Zapfen anpressenden Stahlbandes, dessen Enden durch eine auf Zug beanspruchte Schraubenfeder aus Stahldraht o. dgl. miteinander verbunden sind, und besteht darin, daß die Schraubenfeder nicht zwischen die Enden des Stahlbandes an der Verbindungsstelle, sondern an der entgegengesetzten Seite um das Stahlband gespannt wird und die Enden desselben so verbindet, daß das Stahlband nicht nur durch den tangentialen Zug an seinen Enden, sondern auf dem größeren Teil des Umfanges auch durch den radialen Druck der Feder an die Manschette und dadurch diese an den Zapfen gepreßt wird.
