Dies hat seine Ursache darin, daß die den größeren Teil der Preßlinge bildenden Sodarückstände zu einem wesentlichen Teil aus Chlorcalcium bestehen, welches ein großes Bestreben hat, Wasser aufzunehmen. Dieses Bestreben kommt erfahrungsgemäß um so stärker zur Wirkung, je wasserhaltiger die Preßlinge bereits sind, läßt sich daher in gewissem Grade dadurch einschränken, daß man die Sodarückstände möglichst trocken mit dem Kalk und den kieselsäurehaltigen Materialien, wie Sand, Schlacke und dergl., verarbeitet.
