Description
Process for applying a synthetic resin layer to sheets, panels, Molded parts or the like made of thermoplastic material, in particular thermoplastic PVC Plastics have properties that make them particularly suitable for many purposes appear.
In practice, however, their use is often an obstacle, that they lose their porm resistance more and more with increasing temperature In order to ensure that even in cases where the dimensional stability of the material plays a role, To be able to use thermoplastics, attempts are therefore made again and again to on top of this a layer of synthetic resin should be applied in a suitable manner0 As the possibility the creation of a direct adhesive connection between the materials mentioned is not given by nature, one has already tried to establish the connection between thermoplastics and synthetic resin through the use of adhesion promoters such as adhesives, Solve or. Swelling agents or the like. For example, it is known to dissolve the surface of PVO panels using suitable solvents to such an extent that the glass fibers of a glass fiber reinforced layer made of epoxy resin, polyester resin or another synthetic resin anchored in the loosened PVC surface. A satisfactory result is not achieved with this measure, however, because the PVC sheets warp after the solvent has dried and accordingly with the Further processing of the plates is considerable Difficulties arise. The solvents or swelling agents also cause embrittlement of PVC, which is why despite the coating with a glass fiber reinforced synthetic resin layer there is a risk that parts produced in this way will not be able to cope with impact loads are and break at such.
Correspondingly, the proportions are also when one is using one of the known adhesives, solvents or swelling agents or the like initially only a glass fiber layer on the PVC plate and then on the glass fiber layer the resin applies.
It has now been found that while avoiding the aforementioned Difficulties in firmly adhering a layer of synthetic resin, for example Made of polyester or epoxy resin, on sheets, plates, molded parts or the like made of thexmoplastic Plastic, in particular made of PVC, can be achieved if according to the proposal of the invention on the entire surface to be joined, the plastic or by supply of heat at least on this surface in a sufficiently deep layer In the plastic state converted web, plate or. The like. Glass fibers applied and optionally by means of more or less strong pressure and then Cooling of the web, plate or the like or their connecting surface anchored in this and then on the fiberglass-coated using methods known in synthetic resin processing Surface to which the synthetic resin is applied Here it is clear that the to be applied Temperatures and pressures matched to one another in the best possible way will.
Tests have shown that by means of the method according to the invention ~ both between the: glass fibers and the thermoplastic as well as between the fiber optics and the Resin achieved such a strong bond becomes that all requirements occurring in the practice can be completely gnawed at. Dz in the method according to the invention to the use of any aids such as Adhesive, etc. is completely omitted, there is no risk of the properties of the thermoplastic are adversely affected. You also have it It is completely up to you whether you first apply the synthetic resin layer to a finished construction or wants to raise beforehand. In both cases, i. i.e., before or after applying the synthetic resin layer, you can construct unhindered with the plastic parts and build.
A particularly advantageous solution to the problem arises when the anchoring of the glass fibers in the thermoplastic according to a further proposal the invention is vorgenomsen in such a way that the one from the slot nozzle Extrude emerging plastic web with a preferably gene perpendicular to the Direction of exit from the nozzle with the corresponding speed immediately in front of the nozzle Passed glass fiber matt, e a glass fiber nonwoven or the like. Is brought together. Such a procedure is allowed in a very simple and economically high way Continuous plastic sheet immediately after its manufacture, d. H. in continuous How to work with a glass fiber coating and give it away for the subsequent or to prepare later application of a synthetic resin layer.
In order to ensure that the glass fiber mat corresponds to the exit from the nozzle ^ Thermoplastic does not evade, which means that the glass fibers do not penetrate too much b the thermoplastic could result, the glass fiber mat is in the area of the nozzle appropriately supported on their side facing away from the manner.
It can also prove useful under certain circumstances the plastic sheet and the glass fiber mat after being united by one or several gaps formed between the pressure rollers, what is special the Possibility of using lower plasticizing temperatures get along for the thermoplastic.
Instead of the glass fiber mat perpendicular to the direction of discharge of the thermoplastic In front of the nozzle, it can also be fed in the direction of discharge of the thermoplastic merged with this in front of the nozzle and then subsequently one or several preferably adjustable roller gaps are also passed through, as a result of which in connection with the corresponding plasticizing temperatures, this is also flawless Anchoring the glass fibers in the thermoplastic is achieved.
A particularly economical application of the glass fibers is achieved, if the glass fibers between two plastic, sheets, plates, molded parts or the like. introduced and connected to both parts at the same time. After sufficient The plastic parts can then be cooled in a simple manner in the glass fiber layer are separated from each other again, with the synthetic resin then immediately afterwards or can be applied later.
