gebende Implosionsschutzbandage
vereinfachter Art vorzusehen.
Gemäß der Erfindung wird vorgeschlagen,
daß die Bandage aus einer erstarrten Kittmasse besteht."Implosion protection device for cathode ray tubes The invention relates to an implosion protection device for cathode ray tubes, consisting of a rigid bandage that firmly surrounds the tube at its peripheral area adjacent to the front window and in which at least one circumferential metal reinforcement is embedded, especially for picture tubes It is already known, for the purpose of implosion protection of picture tubes, to surround them in the area of their largest circumference with a rigid metallic two-part frame and to fill the space between the tube wall and the metallic frame with a solidifying potting compound consists of two drawn sheet-metal parts which are connected to each other by means of a flange, it is considered disadvantageous that such frames are relatively expensive to 'manufacture. from United States Patent 2,083,198 is a protective enclosure for Ka known method ray tubes, which is applied to the cone of the tube and which consists of cardboard, wood, sheet metal, Gu mmi or the like. And which is reinforced by metal rings. The majority of the materials used as a protective cover inherently have a certain elasticity or plasticity, so that even the metal reinforcement rings cannot make the protective cover rigid. When using sheet metal, apart from increased costs, it is not readily possible to achieve a large-area contact with the glass wall. Finally, it is also known to apply a wire mesh to a tube for protective purposes. The subject of the earlier patent 1 185 300 is an implosion protection bandage for a cathode ray tube, which is shrunk on and into which spring elements are inserted, which increase the elasticity of the bandage. The object of the present invention is novel .a rigid to provide the tube in the area of its greatest circumference environmentally imaging Implosionsschutzbandage simplified type. According to the invention it is proposed that the bandage consists of a solidified putty mass.
The bandage described is simple and inexpensive to manufacture. It forms a rigid frame whose resistance to tensile stress is increased by the metal reinforcement embedded in the circumferential direction in such a way that the bandage does not break. Compared to elastic protective covers, it has the advantage of increased implosion resistance. The subject matter of the invention is explained in more detail below using the exemplary embodiment shown in the figure. A picture tube 1 consists of a front part 2, a neck part 3 and a conical part 4. In the area of its largest circumference of the tube, that is, in the area that limits the picture window 2 of the tube, the tube is surrounded by a bandage 5 according to the invention. This bandage can for example consist of plaster of paris, cement with a colored filler, a fusible material or a fiber-reinforced castable, fusible plastic. It surrounds the tube tightly and expediently also covers part of the conical area 4 of the oval tube.
