Description
The invention relates to a method for removing fluorine from phosphoric acid by heating in the presence of a silicon compound.
In particular at the concentration of a phosphoric acid containing 30 ° / 0 P 2 O 5 and obtained during the digestion of phosphate ore, in which apart from dissolved calcium and sulfate ions there are also dissolved H 2 SiF 6 and HF, the fluorine concentrations in the 55 ° / 0 phosphoric acid containing P2O5 too high. After the calcium fluoride and gypsum precipitate has been separated off, H 2 SiF 6 remains in solution in the concentrated acid.
However, the presence of fluorine or fluorine compounds in phosphoric acid is out of technical and economic reasons disadvantageous. Looks at the technical processing of phosphoric acid one often induces oneself to reduce the fluorine content to minimum values, especially when one gets out of it wants to prepare dicalcium phosphate suitable for the production of cattle feed. On the other hand, the ao Fluorine is a significant by-product that can be converted into such fluorine compounds which can be used as insecticides and are also suitable for many other technical applications suitable.
However, the known methods for removing fluorine from phosphoric acid suffer from many shortcomings. So it is z. B. known to remove H 2 SiF 6 by this compound is decomposed by adding active SiO 2 and heating to 130 0 C in HF and SiF 4 , the water content should be kept constant. This method of separating fluorine is very costly because of the high temperatures involved, which cause quite severe corrosion due to the strong acids in the apparatus. In addition, the added energy is lost, as it is only used to evaporate the water, which has to be replenished so that the water content is kept constant.
It has been found that the fluorine content can be reduced more cheaply using a silicon compound, with almost all fluorine or all fluorine compounds being removed in volatile form if, according to the invention, at least one synthetic and / or synthetic phosphoric acid is added to the fluorine-containing phosphoric acid at a temperature below 100 ° C. natural silicate of elements of II. and / or III. Periodic table group, such as magnesium and / or aluminum silicate.
The process is preferably carried out 0 C and simultaneous aeration at 60 to 8O.
With the new process, the corrosion in the apparatus is significantly less. Since, furthermore, far below the If the boiling point of the acid is used, the constant replenishment of the water is not necessary. on this way unnecessary energy costs are avoided.
Surprisingly, it has been found that the fluorine compounds present in the deposited gypsum are first removed and only then is the H 2 SiF 6 present in the solution removed. This means that the gypsum formed during the production of phosphoric acid can be obtained without any loss of fluorine components, which increases the overall usefulness of the phosphate digestion and processing of the associated products.
It has proved to be very advantageous as a magnesium silicate talc having a particle size of below 30 microns and in an amount of 10 to 20 g per liter of phosphoric acid having a content of 800 to 1000 g P 2 O 5/1 To add.
According to a very advantageous embodiment of the invention, the silicates are added after the phosphoric acid was concentrated up to a content of 55 ° / 0 P 2 O 5.
The invention is explained below using an exemplary embodiment.
100 kg of rock phosphate ore are reacted with 108 kg of 70% sulfuric acid in a battery of reaction vessels, phosphoric acid and gypsum being obtained. After 2 hours, the plaster of paris formed is separated from the acid containing 30 ° / 0 P 2 O 5 gel by filter pressing. In addition to calcium and sulfate ions, the phosphoric acid obtained also contains dissolved H 2 SiF 6 and HF. When evaporating to concentrate the phosphoric acid up to a 50 to 55% P 2 O 5 content, insoluble gypsum and calcium fluoride are formed.
The phosphoric acid containing 900 g of P 2 O 5 per liter is introduced into a rust-proof vessel which is provided on the lower side with an annular duct with air supply openings, whereupon ground talc with a particle size of less than 30 microns is added. The results shown in the table are achieved as a function of the amount of talc added. The table also shows the result of an experiment with aluminum silicate. Instead of the milled talc mentioned above, sepiolite or serpentine can also be used.
Prior to the addition of talc or aluminum silicates, the phosphoric acid is heated to 7O 0 C. This temperature is maintained during the removal of the fluorine. After the reaction has ended, the gypsum precipitate is again separated off by filtration.
