Bei vielen Cigarettenmaschinen wird der Tabak —■ sei es als ein auf die Länge der Cigarette zugeschnittener Tabakwickel, sei es als endloser, erst nach der Einführung in die Hülse durchschnittener Strang — durch einen Schnabel (»Löffel«, ein schräg abgeschnittenes Rohrstückchen) in die fertige Papierhülse eingeführt, wobei die Hülse durch hier nicht weiter in Betracht kommende Mittel (z. B. Prefsbacken) an dem Schnabel festgehalten wird. Um die gefüllte Cigarette vom Schnabel zu entfernen, mufs man entweder den Schnabel aus der ruhenden Cigarette heraus- oder die Cigarette vom ruhenden Schnabel herabziehen. Ersteres ist nicht immer angängig, zumal wenn der Tabak als endloser Strang eingeführt wird und führt jedenfalls zu baulichen Schwierigkeiten. Gezeichnet ist ein Schnabel von elliptischem Profil (Fig. 2) unter der Annahme, dafs flache Cigaretten hergestellt werden sollen. Ist die Hülse gefüllt und hat das zwischen Gestell d und Schnabel e niedergehende Messer u (Fig. 2) den Strang dicht hinter der Hülse durchschnitten, so ist auch das Häkchen 0 durch Rechtsgang des Schiebers h (Fig. 1) an den Angriffsort gelangt. Jetzt kommt Daumen s zur Wirkung und Rolle t drückt den Arm η nieder, so dafs das Häkchen 0 in der Stellung o¹ (Fig. i, punktirt) durch den in Fig. 2 und 3 ersichtlichen Schlitz ν hindurch in den Schnabel ein- und hinter das Ende der fertigen Cigarette greift. In dieser Lage geht das Häkchen mit dem wieder linksgehenden Schieber mit, bis die Cigarette vom Schnabel abgestreift ist. Dann läfst Daumen s den Haken in die Stellung ο zurückgehen und Trommel f führt die fertige Cigarette weiter, während zugleich eine leere Hülse vor den Schnabel e gelangt.A slide h, guided in the axial direction of the cigarette in the frame g (FIG.
