As is known, high molecular weight polyesters can be spun and drawn into threads. As special Threads and foils made of polyethylene terephthalate have proven advantageous proven. However, this polyester has the disadvantage that it is difficult to be colored and that special procedures must be used to obtain satisfactory colorations.
· ,It is known by condensation of polybasic carboxylic acids, glycols and diamines or to produce polyesters containing amino acids and amide groups. In such polyester amides Although the amide groups increase the coloring properties of the polymers, the amide groups are Components of the linear polymer chains. It is also known for the manufacture of polyesters To use polyester intermediates that contain carboximide groups in side chains. It has shown, however, that the amino and amide groups incorporated into the polyester chains in this way have a discoloring and yellowing effect. ·,
Processes are therefore already known in which, in order to improve the coloring properties the polyester this after its production, but before its further processing into threads, Films and the like, linear polyamides are mixed. However, these procedures are relatively difficult to perform, because the polyamides are ground into particles of a very small size before being added have to.

According to the invention, however, it is also possible already in the form of threads, fibers, foils and the like to treat the present polyesters with the modifying compounds. This is how it is, for example possible, a polyester fabric or knitted fabric with a solution of one or more modifying compounds to treat and then to subject the tissue to a brief heat treatment.
The modified by the process of the invention high molecular weight polyesters can be without expensive and toxic dyeing auxiliaries or swelling agents and without the use of superatmospheric pressures Colours. Extremely deep colorations can be achieved in this way.
The nitrogen-containing compounds used in the process of the invention have a relatively low molecular weight and easy to pulverize. Furthermore, they let themselves melt easily, providing easily liquid melts with no appreciable melt viscosity. she can be dispersed extremely easily in melted polyesters. In contrast, own the polyamides used hitherto for the same purpose have a high melt viscosity, so that the melted polyamide particles only by means of extremely effective mixing devices in the polyesters could be dispersed. Since the nitrogen-containing used according to the invention Modifying agents are relatively simple compounds from a chemical point of view, they can be easily made getting cleaned. Furthermore, they do not contain any reactive carboxyl and / or amino groups. Consequently they are inert towards the polyesters even at high temperatures. Another Advantage of the method of the invention is that the modifying used according to the invention Compounds only shortly before spinning, extrusion or the like. The polyester is added to the latter have to be and as a result only be heated to elevated temperatures for a few minutes.
Surprisingly, it has been found that the modifying used in the process of the invention Connections in the dyeing process of polyester thread, for example, are not washed out of these although many of the modifying compounds used in the present invention are in water or in organic solvents used in dry cleaning processes are used, are soluble. Surprisingly, it has been shown that the invention Modifying agents used form stable complexes with the dye molecules, which withstand all known washing and dry cleaning processes. Although the modifying Compounds in the polyesters are only mechanically dispersed, they behave as if they were would be chemically bound to the polymer chains.
According to the method of the invention, the colorability of all known high molecular weight Polyesters, especially the known high-melting crystalline polyesters, improve. The procedure the invention is particularly suitable for improving the colorability of high molecular weight Polyesters obtained by reacting glycols with aromatic dicarboxylic acids.
The moldings which can be produced by the process of the invention are very diverse Disperse dyes can be dyed.
The at least one carboxamide, carboximide or urea group used according to the invention Compounds comprising can easily be prepared by known methods.
A polyester made of polyethylene terephthalate and having an inherent viscosity of 0.69 became Grind particles with a particle size of 3 mm in diameter. 184 g of the polyester particles became then slurried in 200 ml of acetone, which contained 16 g of Ν, Ν, Ν ', Ν'-tetraethylphthalamide dissolved. the Slurry was stirred to evaporate the acetone, thereby obtaining polyester particles covered with Ν, Ν, Ν ', Ν'-tetraethylphthalamide. The polyester particles were thereafter Dried for 1 hour at 120'C and then spun into threads using the melt spinning process. The polyester threads contained that Ν, Ν, Ν ', Ν'-Tetraethylphthalamide excellently dispersed. The threads that were spun around that Stretched 4 times its original length and then heated to 140 ° C. for 5 minutes stabilized.
The threads were then for 1 hour in a boiling dye liquor with a blue disperse dye of the following formula:

It became a 3 "/ o deep blue color obtain. Using the same dye, correspondingly deep colorations could not be achieved modified polyethylene terephthalate thread only using superatmospheric pressures or one Carriers can be achieved. The textile chemical properties of the addition of Ν, Ν, Ν ', Ν'-tetraethylphthalamide modified polyester thread were the same as that of the unmodified polyethylene terephthalate thread. The dyeings were extremely lightfast and washfast.
Es ließen sich ausge-A mixture consisting of 380 g of polyethylene terephthalate particles a maximum diameter of 3 mm and 20 g of powdered 4,4'-methylenebis (N-ethylacetanilide), was melted in an extruder and extruded into a water bath. in which the mixture becomes a rod of one diameter of 3.175 mm solidified, which was comminuted into chips with a length of about 3.175 mm. The chips were then heated by heating in a 120X heated air circulating oven for 2 hours dried. The schnitzel containing 5% 4,4'-methylene-bis- (N-ethylacetanilide) were then melt-spun into threads. The threads were, as described in Example 1, stretched and stabilized and, as described in Example 1, with a disperse dye without Applying superatmospheric pressure or a carrier colored. It could be

When using unmodified polyethylene terephthalate threads only extremely weak dyeings could be achieved under the same dyeing conditions.
A 15 x 20 cm piece of polyethylene terephthalate fabric of the "Tropical" type was mixed with a methanolic Treated solution of 4,4'-methylene-bis- (N-äthylacetanilid). 5% of the modifier applied. After evaporation of the solvent, the fabric became Heated to 200 C for 3 minutes. The nitrogen-containing compound migrated into the polyester a. The modified polyester fabric could be with disperse dyes without the use of Dye carriers in deep shades. The dyeings were extremely lightfast and washfast and survived dry cleaning processes. From this behavior it follows that the modifying Compound had penetrated the polyester and not only adhered to the surface of the polyester.
In gleicher Weise ließen sich mittels eines Extruders erzeugte Folien anfärben.Ν, Ν, Ν ', Ν'-Tetraethylisophthalamide was melted and continuously into a melt of polyethylene terephthalate by means of a measuring pump injected shortly before the melt extrudes into a rod with a diameter of 3.175 mm became. The inherent viscosity of the modified polyester was 0.64. The polyester contained 6.4 percent by weight Ν, Ν, Ν ', Ν'-tetraethyl isophthalamide. The stick was crushed into shreds, which then were dried. Filaments produced from these chips by the melt-spinning process were left extremely easily with disperse dyes without the simultaneous use of dyeing auxiliaries stain. Films produced by means of an extruder could be colored in the same way.
Nach dem im Beispiel 2 beschriebenen Verfahren wurden Polyesterfäden der in der folgenden Tabelle angegebenen Zusammensetzungen hergestellt:Following the procedure described in Example 2, polyester filaments became those in the following table specified compositions made:

The polyester particles were then heated to 120 ° C. for 2 hours and spun into threads by the melt spinning process. The spun threads were drawn 4 times and then heated to 140 ° C. for 5 minutes. The threads were then dyed for 1 hour in a boiling dye liquor which contained 4- (4 '- /? - hydroxyethylanilino) -5-nitro-1,8-dihydroxyanthraquinone as the dye. 3% dyeings were produced. Deep color tones were obtained without the use of superatmospheric pressures and / or carriers. When dyeing unmodified polyethylene terephthalate threads, dyeings of the same depth of color can only be achieved using superatmospheric pressures or carriers. The physical properties of the polyester filaments modified with Ν, Ν'-hexamethylene diphthalimide were the same as those of the unmodified polyethylene terephthalate filaments. The dyeings were extremely lightfast and washfast.

5% of the nitrogen compound was applied from the solution to the tissue. After removing the solvent the fabric was heated to 200 ° C. for 3 minutes. The N, N'-hexamethylene diphthalimide migrated into the polyester. The fabric settled with disperse dyes without application can be colored by carriers in deep shades. The dyeings were extremely lightfast and washfast and also resistant to dry cleaning. From this behavior it follows that the Modifier had penetrated into the polyester and not just on the surface of the polyester stuck.

20 injected ethylene terephthalate melt, which was spun into threads by means of an extruder. The modifying, nitrogen-containing compound was injected into the polyethylene terephthalate melt in such amounts that filaments containing 4.2, 7.8 and 11.1% of the modifying compound were obtained. The threads were stretched at 400 to 500 volts and then heated to 140.degree. C. for 5 minutes. Treatment in a boiling liquor for 1 hour produced 3% dyeings with 4- (4 '- / i-hydroxyethylanilino) -5-nitro-1,8-dihydroxyanthraquinone and 2-nitro-4-sulfonamido-4'-ethoxydiphenylamine . The higher the modifying compound content of the polyester, the higher the depth of color. Dyeings of the same depth of shade can only be achieved with unmodified polyethylene terephthalate threads with the simultaneous use of dyeing auxiliaries. The properties of the modified polyester wheels were otherwise the same as those of the threads made of unmodified polyethylene terephthalate.

The threads obtained could be dyed with a wide variety of disperse dyes without the aid of a carrier. For example, excellent colorations could be obtained with the dyes 4- (4 '- / 3-hydroxyethylanilino) -5-nitro-1,8-dihydroxyanthraquinone; 2-nitro-4-sulfonamido-4'-ethoxydiphenylamine and 4- (6'-methanesulfonyl-2'-benzothiazolylazo) -N-) 3-cyanoethyl-N - ^ - hydroxy-ethylaniline. By treating the threads for 1 hour in a liquor heated to 100 ° C., 3% dyeings of medium to deep color depth were obtained. In the case of comparative dyeings of unmodified polyester thread, on the other hand, only very weak dyeings could be achieved.
The polyester threads described in Table II were further treated with pre-metallized dyes, for example a chromium complex dye with the color index No. 18 800, colored. Also with medium to deep shades of color were achieved for these dyes compared to only light shades, which were obtained when, under the same conditions, threads made of unmodified polyester were colored.
