Description
When drilling in very soft ground at depth, and when drilling under water it often happens that the material drilled is pulled up from the water when the drill is pulled up is flushed away, and that the borehole opens again after the drill has been withdrawn fills with earth masses.
This disadvantage is said to be due to the device which is the subject of the present invention forms should be avoided.
The drawing illustrates the subject matter of the invention, specifically when drilling under Water. It shows Fig. 1 the drill penetrated into the earth, Fig. 2 the drill when pulling up.
The lower turn c of the twist drill b has a larger diameter than the other turns. A drop basket d is pushed onto the linkage α , into which the turns b of the drill, but no longer the lower, larger turn c , can be inserted. A collar e limits the movement of the drop basket d upwards. Flap valves / are arranged on the drop basket.
If the drill is lowered into the depth, the drop basket is above the turns b of the drill and sits on the lower turn c . If the drill reaches the ground under water, and if it is drilled into the soil layer by turning the rod, the drill spiral bc will penetrate the ground, but the drop basket d will settle on the surface of the ground and remain in this position until the drill has penetrated completely into the ground (Fig. 1). If the drill is now pulled up without turning, the spiral b with the drilled material first pushes itself into the drop basket d until the latter touches the lowest turn c and is lifted upwards by this with it. When the spiral b with the drilled material penetrates into the drop basket, the water in the latter is valves / forced out through the flaps. It is now impossible to wash away the drilled material when the drill is moved through the water.
