Der zur Messung von Wechselströmen benutzte Stromwandler ist dem Princip nach ein Transformator, dessen primäre Wicklung vom zu messenden Strom durchflossen wird. Die von diesem in der secundären erzeugte elektromotorische Kraft ist, falls der magnetische Zustand des Transformatoreisens vom Sättigungspunkte noch hinreichend entfernt ist, proportional sowohl der primären Stromstärke als auch der Periodenzahl derselben. Man hat zwar schon früher Selbstinductionsspulen in Verbindung mit Mefsgeräthen benutzt, um die Angaben der. letzteren unabhängig von der Polwechselzahl zu machen. Dort lag jedoch der Grund für die Abhängigkeit von der Polwechselzahl im Mefsgeräth selbst, während sie hier durch die Anwendung des Stromwandlers bedingt ist und der Strommesser selbst ein solcher sein kann, dafs er vermöge seiner Construction (ζ. B.
