The invention relates to a fragmentation projectile with a hollow inner container and with a this attached shell made of preformed individual explosives that are glued and between the inner container and an outer casing. The invention can be applied to explosive devices, bombs or grenades are used. It is known, fragmentation projectiles with individual, separate, metallic To provide explosives between a hollow inner container and an outer cover lie. It is also known, non-metallic projectile parts to increase the strength with a Metal layer to be coated. Fragmentation projectiles with separate, previously machined cubes or fragments made of steel are effective for penetrating a target, but have no fire effect themselves. It has been found that when the explosives are coated with a suitable material, the friction developed between the explosive and the metallic target after impact is sufficient, to ignite the material and thereby set the target on fire. Substances of this type are hereinafter referred to as pyrogenic.
In der Zeichnung istAn embodiment of the invention is in the following part of the description with reference to the drawing described. In the drawing is

In the drawing, F i g. 1 a typical bullet housing in which the outer protective jacket or the wrapper 2 (Fig. 2) and the binder, one Synthetic resin compound 6 are removed so that the previously trimmed fragments or fragments 3 are visible are. The projectile housing 1 is provided with an inner casing or protective cover 4. Both wrappings are preferably made of a glass fiber reinforced synthetic resin, e.g. B. from an epoxy resin. Other resins can also be used, e.g. B. polyvinyl chloride resins, phenol-formaldehyde resins, unreinforced Epoxy resins, alkyd resins and heteropolymerized alkyd resins.

B. an epoxy resin connected. The explosives 3 can be made of steel or other material.
The special feature of the present invention is the surfaces of the explosives 3 (as shown in FIGS. 3 and 4) to be coated with a pyrogenic material 5. The purpose of usage of the pyrogenic material consists in giving the debris an incendiary effect give. This is triggered by the friction between the explosive and the target when the explosive punch through the target.
Although a variety of fumed materials can be used, metal is one that is used or of alloys, because they bond firmly to the steel explosives, so that the coating does not peel or rub off during the flight to the target. For this purpose are the following Suitable for pyrogenic metals: aluminum, magnesium, zirconium, titanium and the alloys made from these Metals such as magnesium-titanium, aluminum-titanium, aluminum-magnesium, aluminum-zircon and aluminum-zircon-magnesium. Aluminum or aluminum alloys are preferable because they are more readily available, cost less, and combine better with the steel explosives.
