Description
Method of making nonwovens for filtering purposes. The invention relates to a method of making nonwovens for filtering purposes based on polyester fibers, which have proven particularly effective in practice.
The invention solves the problem of creating nonwovens for filter purposes, which, while retaining their original favorable filter properties, are unlimited are often usable. The solution to this task presupposes a practically unlimited frequent washability of the fiber fleece, furthermore the fleece must also after repeated The ablution will retain its original volume or take it up again and finally the structure and spatial position of the fibers of the fleece must be retained. the This object is achieved in that made of polyester known per se Fibers from 1 to 20 den. and lengths of 60 to 100 mm in the direction of the grain initially formed band-shaped nonwovens, these with a known per se as a binder Serving polyvinyl acetate are impregnated. This polyvinyl acetate is preferred used in the saponified state and then highly acetalized; it will further according to the invention with a solvent, e.g. B. methylene chloride, diluted. To Their impregnation is the fibers or the fiber fleece from the solvent freed. This process, which is new in its entirety, can be implemented according to the invention so improve that several tape-shaped and as indicated impregnated nonwovens possibly different fiber and fleece thickness combined and then removed from the solvent to be freed.
The use of polyvinyl acetate as a binder for fibers is there known, but not in application to a polyester-based one Fiber material. The fiber fleece acquires its properties that are valuable in practice by sharing the selection of fibers for the fleece as well as for the binder.
The fiber fleece according to the invention can be said to be absolutely washable, because it can be cleaned in normal washing liquids and detergents without to lose its former form and filtering effect. The fiber fleece according to the invention can be cleaned in gasoline, for example, it can also be cleaned in cold or warm, commonly used detergents. The inventive Fiber fleece dries quickly because the fibers used do not absorb any liquid. Since the fibers are still resistant to creasing and are highly elastic, they stretch the fiber fleece to its original volume after washing. The inventive Because of its unlimited washability, fiber fleece can be cleaned as often as you like without losing its original filter properties. The inventive Fiber fleece can therefore be used without restriction.
This essential advantage adhering to the fiber fleece according to the invention is supported by other favorable properties. So is the invention Fiber fleece is largely insensitive to mechanical loads and has great strength both in the direction of the grain and across the direction of the grain.
Another advantage of the fleece according to the invention is that it is great Heat resistance, its low flammability and its resistance to organic To look at solvents. By that used in the nonwoven fabric according to the invention Binder applied by spraying or foaming the fiber material will not leave any binder residues after drying, such as they are often present in other nonwovens in the form of lumps or granules are. Avoiding the formation of such residues is also more essential Advantage to address, since such residues are not firmly attached to the fiber material and therefore often end up in the cleaned air stream.
The fiber fleece according to the invention thus has compared to all previously known nonwovens have significant advantages, mainly in its unlimited Washability, its mechanical and chemical strength and its excellent Elasticity exist.
The adjacent pattern represents part of a fiber fleece with a thread size of 20 den. The fiber fleece shows that the fibers are essentially run in one direction. Any binder residue occurs in the inventive Fiber fleece not visible. The fiber fleece according to the invention can be used to form filters of any strength. The fiber fleece, which can be produced either in mat form or in tape form, becomes for this purpose before the final drying in one of the desired filter strengths corresponding number of layers placed on top of one another or folded on top of one another. The individual layers of the fiber fleece combine to form a single filter body, which have the same favorable properties as the fleece itself.
You can also use different layers of fiber fleece in a filter Combine thread sizes with each other in order to use different layers in a filter to combine different filter effects. For example, a filter be formed in which several fiber fleece layers are combined to form a filter body which have different fiber strengths that decrease towards the clean air side. Such filters can also be cleaned in the same way as the fiber fleece itself without their original filtering capacity and their original mechanical and lose chemical properties.
With the fiber fleece according to the invention, the applicant has for the first time created a filter material that can be used practically an unlimited number of times without hereby to: lose its original favorable filter properties.
