Description
Process for the preparation of sulfonic acid amide-N-sulfenic acid chlorides It is known from German Auslegeschrift 1 101 407 that sulfonic acid amide-N-sulfenic acid chlorides are obtained when N, N'-dithiobis-sulfonic acid amides are reacted with chlorine or chlorine-releasing substances. The N, N'-dithio-bisulfonic acid amides used can, for. B. by reacting the salts, in particular the alkali metal salts of N-substituted sulfonic acid amides, with disulfur dichloride (cf. German Patent 951 719). The alkali salts mentioned, which are produced from the N-substituted sulfonic acid amides and alcoholic alkali lye, must first be isolated from their solutions by vacuum evaporation.
It has been found that sulfonic acid amide-N-sulfenic acid chlorides of the general formula is obtained in which Ri and Rz are identical or different alkyl or cycloalkyl radicals which may optionally be substituted. R, also an optionally substituted aryl radical or a disubstituted amino group of the general formula where R3 and Ra are identical or different aryl, alkyl or cycloalkyl radicals, which may optionally also be substituted, or together are members of a ring system in which heteroatoms can also be present as ring members, if N-substituted sulfonic acid amides of the general formula Ri -S02-NHR 1 wherein R, and R :, have the aforementioned meaning, reacts with sulfur dichloride in the presence of a basic reacting substance and optionally in the presence of an inert solvent.
As starting materials of the general formula 1, for. B. used such in which the radical R, a phenyl or naphthyl nucleus, an aliphatic Radical with 1 to 8 carbon atoms, a cycloaliphatic radical with 5 to 12 carbon atoms, each optionally by one or more nitro and / or dialkylamino and / or Cyano and / or ester and / or alkyl groups with 1 to 4 carbon atoms, which also can be branched, and; or substituted by one or more halogen atoms can be means. Furthermore, such compounds can be implemented in which the radical R is a disubstituted amino group C and the substituents are the same or various alkyl groups with 1 to 4 carbon atoms, cycloalkyl groups having 5 to 7 carbon atoms or aryl groups or the substituents together form a heterocyclic ring system in which, in addition to nitrogen, sulfur or Oxygen atoms can be present as ring members. The rest of R2 can be next to one Alkyl radical with 1 to 6 carbon atoms also be a cycloaliphatic radical, the one still behaving indifferently under the reaction conditions Substituents such as nitro, dialkylamino, cyano. Ester groups or halogen atoms, can be substituted. In general, compounds of the formula 1 can be used to react in which the hydrogen atom on the amide nitrogen atom is the only one acidic hydrogen atom in the starting compound.
Tertiary amines are particularly suitable as basic reacting substances, especially trimethylamine, triethylamine and pyridine. However, others can as well tertiary amines such as dimethylaniline, diethylaniline can be used. They are given usually in stoichiometric amounts, calculated on the hydrogen chloride to be released, to. However, larger amounts can also be used.
The reaction is advantageously carried out under the reaction conditions inert organic Solvents such as aliphatic or aromatic Hydrocarbons, halogenated hydrocarbons or ethers.
As a rule, the solution of the sulfonic acid amide and the Neutralization serving base in an organic solvent and leaves under vigorous stirring a solution of sulfur dichloride, expediently in the same organic Solvent, add dropwise. Advantageously, the temperature during the reaction kept between -20 and + 40 ° C by cooling. After completion of the reaction will the precipitated salt is separated off and, if appropriate, the base used therefrom in the usual way, e.g. B. by heating with calcium oxide, again in freedom set. The sulfonic acid amide-N-sulfenyl chloride in the filtrate can, for. B. can be obtained by distilling off the solvent.
Those accessible in a simple manner by the method according to the invention Sulfonic acid amide-N-sulfenic acid chlorides can be used as intermediates, preferably used in the manufacture of pesticides and pharmaceuticals.
