Patentirt im Deutschen Reiche vom 35. Juni 1899 ab.Patented in the German Empire on June 35, 1899.
'When making artificial leaves, the aim has always been as much as possible To obtain lifelike products, mainly cotton materials for this purpose been used in sections of approximately 1 to 2 m on frames and then, all possible preparations and treatments using special paints, varnishes, wax, paraffin and The like., As well as having to be subjected to a calendering. Foliage made of fabric in this way However, it is always more or less unnatural, it completely lacks the natural freshness' and elasticity, especially the cheap ones Varieties very hard and stiff. ' The reason for this is to be sought chiefly in the fact that. in all previous methods, those for making the. Substances used oils, Fats, glycerine, etc., could only be used to a very limited extent on the one hand because the wire handle attached to the excessively greasy material cannot find a hold can and “sooner or later I have to let go. Then such greased substances can BEZW. the ones made out of it Leaves are not 'useful for the reason that they are everything that comes into contact with them comes to be stained by grease. So far, paper has also been used to imitate leaves, the However, its treatment was fundamentally different from the present process; In addition, true-to-life imitations were not possible in the usual way obtain. '
In order to avoid this Uebclstand and as lifelike looking leaves and To be able to make flowers out of paper, one proceeds in the following way:
The paper, most suitable for this is the white blotting or filter paper, or even better the Chinese or Japanese vegetable paper, is colored green or colored with ordinary aniline dyes, be it in sheets or in punched leaves, whereupon the 1 leaves in the usual way glued to a wire handle. The actual preparation then begins. The punched sheets are made by dipping in collodion solution. Covered with a layer of nitrocellulose, dried and then placed in a greasy liquid, oil, glycerine, etc., until they have become pliable and more or less transparent.
The method can also be carried out in such a way that the paper is first inserted into the greasy liquid is dipped and then covered with a collodion skin.
The CoUodium coating gives the paper a great resistance to moisture and other influences, and at the same time causes the stem to also be held firmly in place will.
