Air-cooled four-stroke internal combustion engine It is used in air-cooled internal combustion engines
known, the cylinder head carrying the valves and possibly the injection nozzle
to be provided at least partially on the circumference with axially parallel cooling fins. Such
Cooling is sufficient for internal combustion engines with a small cylinder diameter
or low power, e.g. B. motorcycles because in these cases by the mentioned
Cooling rib arrangement due to the low thermal stress on the housing parts
can still be taken into account. However, such a cooling fin arrangement is inadequate
for internal combustion engines with a larger cylinder volume or higher power, for example
for stationary engines with very high thermal loads. That's why you have
for larger internal combustion engines an additional cooling of the cylinder head as a result
created that on the cylinder head, in addition to the cooling fins, an additional cooling channel
is provided, which runs approximately transversely to the cylinder axis through the interior
of the cylinder head is passed and promoted by a pressure fan
Cooling air is flowed through. With these types, however, the additional cooling duct,
which is blown by the distant fan, parallel in the main direction
to the direction of the cooling air outflow of the fan in order to achieve the required flow
to ensure the cooling air through the additional cooling duct. Apart from this
Disadvantage from a structural point of view also arises in these types of construction that the
Cooling air flowing through the additional cooling duct is only used to cool the cylinder head
serves, on the other hand, has no influence on the cooling of the cylinder.
In another air-cooled internal combustion engine, a suction fan
the cooling air on one open side of the otherwise closed cylinder head
sucked in, passed through channels of the head lying transversely to the cylinder axis and
deflected against the cylinder, then through axial channels on the circumference of the cylinder
to flow and finally to get outside through the fan. With this cooling arrangement
becomes that cooling air to a large number of the axial channels on the circumference of the cylinder
passed through the outer transverse channels of the head, which were only subjected to low thermal stress
Walls of the head sweeps past while in a considerable number of the axial channels
of the cylinder gets that cooling air which, through the inner transverse channels of the
Flowing head, on the thermally very stressed walls of the head
has already warmed up strongly. As a result, one side of the cylinder always becomes
brushed by relatively cool air while the other side of the cylinder
is exposed to the already strongly heated cooling air flow. This results in
however, very large temperature differences on the circumference of the cylinder, which lead to thermal stresses
as well as out-of-roundness of the same and the associated unpleasant side effects
to lead.
sehr stark herabgesetzt bzw. ausgeglichen
sichergestellt. It is now the object of the invention to address these disadvantages of the known internal combustion engines
to eliminate. This task is performed in an air-cooled four-stroke internal combustion engine
with a cylinder and a cylinder head, which are parallel to the cylinder axis on the circumference
Cooling fins are provided and surrounded by a jacket, so that axial channels are created,
through which the cooling air entering the cylinder head is sucked through by a fan
is, and thereby with the intake and exhaust valves suspended in the cylinder head
solved that in a known manner outside of the through the valve axes
an antechamber and an antechamber between the valve channels,
Transverse channel extending approximately perpendicular to the cylinder axis are provided through which
Cooling air flows, which was previously led along the antechamber walls, and that
part of the antechamber walls is swept by cooling air, which is directed in the direction of the cylinder axis
flowing from the axial channels of the cylinder head directly into the axial channels
of the cylinder enters, while another part of the antechamber walls of cooling air
is coated, which is through the transverse channel on the opposite of the antechamber
Peripheral point of the cylinder head is guided and there in axial channels of the cylinder
entry. In this way, in the cooling air flowing from the head to the cylinder
created a heat balance, which causes the temperature differences on the
Circumference of the cylinder
very much reduced or balanced
will. As a result, there are hardly any significant thermal stresses on the cylinder circumference,
and the roundness of the cylinder required for proper operation
ensured.
These and other features of the invention are presented below on one
exemplary design of the invention described in more detail.

An
Fig. 1 shows a longitudinal section through the cylinder head; Figure 2 is a cross-section on line 11-II of Figure 1; Fig. 3 shows a sectional plan view of Fig. 1. The cylinder head 1 of a single-cylinder four-stroke internal combustion engine consists, as shown, of a light metal casting of approximately annular cross-section, the underside 2 of which is machined flat in order to be able to sit on a corresponding counter surface of the cylinder liner, not shown. Several fastening screws, which pass through holes 3, connect the two parts with one another. The suction and exhaust lines are connected to the two flanges 4a, 4b of the head 1. The suction and exhaust ducts in the head themselves are denoted by 5 a and 5 b. The valves are guided with their shafts in bores 6a, 6b and sit with their plates in valve seats that are to be pressed into countersinks 7a , 7b . To accommodate the injection nozzle, a stepped bore 8 is used, which opens into a spherical prechamber 9 connected to the cylinder working space at 9 a.
On the circumference of the cylinder head 1, several vertical cooling ribs 10 are cast, which are connected to one another with a thin circumferential jacket 11 to increase the cooling surface and the cooling effect. A plurality of axial channels are thus formed on the circumference of the cylinder head 1 by the cooling fins 10 and the jacket 11. Both the cooling fins 10 and the jacket 11 rest with the flat surface 2 on corresponding opposing surfaces of the cylinder liner, not shown, the axial channels of the head 1 opening into corresponding axial channels on the circumference of the cylinder.
Through the interior of the cylinder head 1 , an additional channel 12, which touches the thermally highly stressed walls in the vicinity of the valve or nozzle receptacles, is passed transversely through the head 1. Two outlets 12a of this transverse channel surround the nozzle holder 8 and open into the open at 13. Inside the head 1, the transverse channel 12 is divided into two sub-channels by a longitudinal rib 14 in order to optimally design the cooling air flow and to achieve the best possible cooling by increasing the surface area. The transverse channel 12 running horizontally in this area then receives a curvature and ends in two openings 12b on the underside of the cylinder head 1, which connect to two corresponding openings in the axial channels on the circumference of the cylinder liner. The last-mentioned axial channels are then connected to the channel guide of the suction fan system of the internal combustion engine. Cooling air will therefore flow through the transverse channel 12 in the direction of the arrows shown in FIGS. 1 and 3. The inventive design of the cooling arrangement on the cylinder head ensures that part of the walls of the prechamber 9 is swept by cooling air flowing from above in the direction of the cylinder axis from the axial channels of the cylinder head 1 immediately down into the axial channels of the cylinder, while a Part of the prechamber walls is coated with cooling air, which is passed through the transverse duct 12 to the circumferential point of the cylinder head 1 opposite the prechamber 9 and only enters the axial ducts of the cylinder there at 12 b. In this way, the result is that both the right-hand side of the cylinder and its left-hand side are swept by streams of cooling air of approximately the same temperature. This heat compensation achieved according to the invention causes the temperature differences on the circumference of the cylinder to be greatly reduced or evened out, so that the roundness of your cylinder required for proper operation of the four-stroke internal combustion engine is ensured by avoiding thermal stresses.
