Die bisherigen Flaschenbürsten bestehen entweder aus einer Spindel, die seitlich mit einigen Borstenbüscheln zur Reinigung der Flaschenwände und am Ende mit einem Büschel zur Reinigung des Flaschenbodens versehen sind, oder sie bestehen aus zwei mit Borsten versehenen Theilen, die sich in der Flasche auseinanderspreizen und so die Flaschenwände, sowie den Boden reinigen sollen; doch wird weder mit der einen noch mit der anderen Art dieser Bürsten der beabsichtigte Zweck völlig erreicht, da erstere, anstatt sich um die Achse der Flasche zu drehen, in der Regel mit ihrem Ende sich nach der Peripherie des Bodens verschiebt und auf. diese Weise nur den äufseren Rand des Bodens, demnach auch nur eine Seite der Flaschenwand reinigt, die andere dagegen die Bodenfläche nur mangelhaft säubert, indem ihre beiden Theile das Bestreben habenj nach den Flaschenwänden zu drücken, so dafs sie die Mitte des Bodens fast gar nicht bestreichen. Die Flaschenbürste besteht aus der Spindel a, deren in der Zeichnung nach oben gerichtetes Ende (Fig. 5, 6 und 7) flach bearbeitet und mit einem Schlitz b versehen ist, von dem aus ein zweiter Schlitz c im rechten Winkel nach aufsen führt. Letzterer hat den Zweck, eine Walzenbürste (Igel) nach der Mitte der Spindel durchzulassen, die dann, nach beiden Seiten heruntergebogen, in die Rillen d der Spindel hineingeklemmt (wie Fig. 2 und 1 zeigt) und in derselben durch Bindedrähte an den eingeschnittenen Stellen der Spindel (Fig. 3) befestigt wird. Durch das Einklemmen des Igels in die Rillen erhalten die Borsten eine federnde Wirkung, so dafs sie beim Gebrauch gründlicher arbeiten. An dem flachen Ende der Spindel α sind rechts und links (Fig. 3 und 4) zwei Arme e e' angebracht, die durch einen Schraubenbolzen f mit einander so verbunden sind, dafs sich der Bolzen in dem Schlitz b auf und nieder bewegen kann, demnach auch die Arme e e' auf und nieder beweglich bleiben. Die an die Hauptspindel anschliefsenden Enden der Arme sind mit sich kreuzenden schiefen Flächen g g' ausgestattet (Fig. 3 und 1), die in der Ruhelage der Bürste (Fig. 3 und 4) auf ,den schiefen Flächen h h' der Spindel (Fig. 5 und 6) aufsitzen. Jede der Arme ee' ist auf drei Seiten mit einer Nuth i versehen (Fig. 3 und 4), während die vierte Seite (die schiefe Fläche) glatt bleibt.
