EDITORIAL: OCTOBER 18, 1962
The invention relates to a knife of circular or arcuate shape for cutting with firm crust, skin or the like wrapped food, such as bread, sausage and the like, whose cutting edge is cut out a number of individual cutting edges lined up with a gradually rising cutting face and a steeply sloping one Back edge exists. The previously known embodiments of this type have the disadvantage that the knife consisting of individual blades is the material to be cut covered with solid bark, skin or the like cuts through only under great pressure. A lot of pressure against the rotating knife of circular or arcuate shape, however, is not desirable, because this causes the outer tips of the Knives are overused, causing them to wear out quickly, resulting in deterioration of the Cutting performance of such knives.
The invention has set itself the task of eliminating this disadvantage with simple and inexpensive means and to create a knife in which the material to be cut is also covered with solid bark, skin or the like Cut through smoothly with little contact pressure and avoid excessive stress on the knife will.
This goal is achieved according to the invention in that the individual cutting edges wholly or partially have a fine toothing formed from closely spaced teeth, the rising ones Blades at an acute angle merge into the steeply sloping back edge and the cutting face the individual cutting edges increase in the same direction as the cutting edges of those arranged close to one another Teeth.
Through this training, a strong improvement in cutting performance is achieved and avoided, that with fibrous, soft material to be cut, the cut surface is roughened because the cutting edges of the tiny Teeth cannot tear because of their steeply sloping back. The effective part of the teeth cutting can be increased by the fact that the rising cutting edges are raised and curved.
The knives according to the invention can be equipped with a hollow grind in a manner known per se be.
In the drawing, the invention is shown in one embodiment, namely shows

Fig. 3 einen Schnitt durch eine Schneidkante und Fig. 4 eine mit Hohlschliff versehene Schneidkante im Schnitt.3 shows a section through a cutting edge and FIG. 4 shows a cutting edge provided with a hollow ground on average.
The circular knife is denoted by 5. It is made up of a number of immediately one behind the other Individual cutting edges 6 together, the cutting edge face 7 gradually increasing, while the subsequent one Back edge 8 drops steeply.
In Fig. 2, a single cutting edge 6 is enlarged Scale shown. It is provided with a fine toothing 9, which are made close to each other arranged teeth 10 is formed. The cutting edge 11 of the first eight teeth 10 rises in a straight line and merges at an acute angle into a steeply sloping back edge 12. In the remaining teeth 10 runs the cutting edge 11 to enlarge its effective part, loftily curved.
As can be seen from FIG. 2, the cutting face 7 of the individual cutting edges 6 and the cutting edges rise 11 of the teeth 10 in the same direction. A hollow grind 14 can be assigned to the cutting edge 13 be.
As already mentioned, the embodiment shown is only an example implementation of the Invention and not limited to it. There are still many changes and designs possible. So the cutting face of the individual cutting edges and the cutting edges of the teeth can also follow increase in opposite directions. Furthermore, the teeth on the lower, ineffective part of the Individual cutting edges are missing.
