BEKANNTMACHUNG DER ANMELDUNG UNDAUSGABE DER AUSLEGESCHRIFT: 17. AUGUST 1961NOTICE THE REGISTRATION AND ISSUE OF EDITORIAL: AUGUST 17, 1961
The invention relates to a permanent magnetic focusing system for generating a at least approximately homogeneous magnetic field for the bundled guidance of the electron beam Traveling wave tube consisting of two opposite ends of the focusing system magnetized sets of magnetic rods, each grouped axially symmetrically in a star shape around a soft magnetic ring-shaped pole piece, with their inner ends on the respective pole piece and with their outer ends on soft iron Contact tail pieces which extend in the axial direction and the magnetic bars corresponding to one another of the two coaxially arranged sets.
In the known focusing systems of the type mentioned above, it is to achieve a Sufficient homogeneity of the (axial) focusing field is required, the two pole pieces through to connect a tubular soft iron shell. Due to the presence of the tubular soft iron sheath a significant part of the magnetic induction does not contribute to focusing the electron beam the tube.
The aim of the invention is to provide a type of construction that differs from the known, in particular from of the above-mentioned advantages.
In a focusing system of the type mentioned at the outset, it is proposed according to the invention that that inside the focusing system at a short distance from one of the sentences mentioned (from the mentioned sentences) and parallel to this (each) another set of symmetrical to the axis of the focusing system star-shaped arranged magnetic bars is provided, which in the same direction as the Magnetic bars of the (each) adjacent set are magnetized, with their outer ends at the in in the axial direction extending soft iron tail pieces and which are dimensioned so that the focusing magnetic field is homogenized in the vicinity of this further set (these further sets) will.
Preferably, in the subject matter of the invention in the vicinity of the two star-shaped end sets of the Focusing system each attached a further star-shaped set, whereby the focusing magnetic field runs almost homogeneously at both ends. If on the output side of the traveling wave tube one a stronger focus field is required, for example in the case of a tube for high power on this side the end sentence can be made more difficult.

Fig. 6 wiederum einen Feldverlauf zeigt.
Magnetisierungsrichtung an.
weicheiserne rohrförmige Hülle) in Abhängigkeit von der Stelle ζ dar.6 again shows a field profile.
In FIGS. 1 and 2, 1 designates permanently magnetized rods which are arranged in the form of an axially symmetrical four-pointed star at both ends of the focusing system, the pole shoes of which are denoted by 2 and 3. The soft iron end pieces are marked 4. The arrows indicate the direction of magnetization. In Fig. 3, the solid curve represents the value of the magnetic field B z along the axis of the focusing system of Figs. 1 and 2 (i.e. without the usual soft iron tubular casing connecting the pole pieces 2 and 3) as a function of the point ζ .
In Fig. 4 sind die der Fig. 1 entsprechenden Teile mit den gleichen Bezugszahlen bezeichnet, während die Magnetstäbe der weiteren Sätze gemäß der Erfin-In FIG. 4, the parts corresponding to FIG. 1 are denoted by the same reference numerals, while the magnetic bars of the other sets according to the invention

Ausgangswellenleiter gelassen. Der zugehörige Feldverlauf ist in Fig. 3 gestrichelt angegeben.are denoted by 5. In place of the rohrförmi- y gene soft-iron sleeve which is to also bring about a reduction in the radial Feldkömponenten in the known devices, here is a superimposition of alternating thin Mur-Metallrin- '5 gene 6 of 0.2 mm thickness and thicker hard paper rings 7 of about 3 mm thickness provided. Such layers on top of one another are known per se to avoid radial fields. The axial field is hardly influenced by this. Space is left for the input and output waveguides between the stacking 6, 7 and the pole pieces 2 and 3. The associated field profile is indicated by dashed lines in FIG. 3.
Fig. 6 stellt den entsprechenden Feldverlauf dar.Fig. 5 shows a construction according to the invention, in which the field on the output side of the traveling wave tube corresponding side is reinforced by the fact that the magnetic rods 8 are somewhat longer on this side and are made thicker. The other parts corresponding to FIGS. 1 and 4 are in turn with the denoted by the same reference numerals. Fig. 6 shows the corresponding field profile.
