Bei dem neuen Dampfwasserableiter erfolgt die Oeffnung und der Schlufs des das Wasser ablassenden Ventils durch den Druck des Wassers.With the new steam water drain, the opening and closing of the water takes place draining valve by the pressure of the water.
Der mit Wasser gemischte Dampf tritt durch das Rohr A in den Apparat und füllt sowohl den gröfseren Raum B als auch den kleineren Raum F, schliefst das Ventil C und hält vermöge des von beiden Seiten in gleicher Stärke erfolgenden Druckes den beweglichen Kolben D, welcher in der die beiden Räume B und F trennenden Scheidewand angebracht ist, in der in der Zeichnung angegebenen Lage. Sobald nun das sich am Boden des Topfes sammelnde Dampfwasser die längere Seite des abwärts gekrümmten und an seinem unteren Ende schräg abgeschnittenen Dampfzuleitungsrohres A erreicht hat, findet eine mit dem weiteren Steigen des Wassers und dem schliefslichen Abschlufs des Rohres zunehmende Erschwerung des Dampfzutritts zu dem Räume B statt, während der Dampfzutritt zu dem Räume F ungehindert bestehen bleibt, und es entsteht somit in beiden Räumen eine verschiedene Dampfspannung. Diese Verschiedenheit des Dampfdruckes bewirkt eine Verschiebung des Kolbens D vom Räume F nach dem Räume B, die eine Bewegung des Hebels E um seine Achse und demnach das Oeffnen des Ventils C zur Folge hat. Aus dem Ventil C strömt nun das Dampfwasser so lange aus, bis die untere Oeffnung des Rohres A wieder frei wird, die Dampfspannung in den Räumen B und F sich ausgleicht und das Ventil schliefst.
