Bei der Behandlung von Wunden ist es oft nothwendig, die Wundränder auf irgend eine Weise zusammenzuhalten, bis das Zusammenwachsen erfolgt ist. Man bewerkstelligt dies meistens durch einfaches Zusammennähen der Ränder mit seidenen Fäden oder Sehnensträngen, welche vor der Anwendung sterilisirt werden müssen. Wie grofse Sorgfalt man auch auf die Sterilisation verwendet, so kommt' es doch häufig vor, dafs die Wunde sich entzündet, wodurch die Heilung verzögert wird und dem Patienten Schmerzen verursacht werden.
