Description
Means for protection of metals to stress corrosion In thermal pressure treatment of carbonaceous materials such as coal, 01, tar, or the distillation or conversion products such. B. in the case of pressure hydrogenation or cracking of the substances mentioned, it is known that products are formed which, especially in condensed form, have a stress-corrosive effect on the apparatus material. Apparatuses that are protected by coatings or made of stainless steels are therefore used. For example, it has become known that the danger of stress corrosion, in which as a rule no visible corrosion products arise and in which the initially invisible damage to the materials becomes apparent in a sudden rupture of the materials under the influence of static stress, occurs in unalloyed or weakly alloyed materials Iron and steel can be prevented or pushed back if the surface of the materials is brought into contact with inhibitors such as acridine, compounds of the acridine group, dibenzyl sulfoxide, pyridine, pyridine derivatives or aldehydes such as formaldehyde. However, it has been shown that the known inhibitors are only effective to an unsatisfactory extent.
Of the substances contained in the reaction products is above all Hydrogen sulphide is a compound that causes stress corrosion. But also, if after the addition of alkaline compounds such. B. ammonia, a neutral one or alkaline medium is present, there is still a risk of stress corrosion, although not to the same extent as with acidic substances.
It has now been found that stress corrosion occurs Can largely be avoided if the thermal pressure treatments mentioned of carbonaceous substances in the apparatus parts in which there is condensation of the products takes place, small amounts of 2,5-dimercapto-1,3,4-thiadiazole or brings in its derivatives.
In addition to 2,5-dimercapto-1,3,4-thiadiazole, suitable substances are its Derivatives, e.g. B. acetylated dimercaptothiadiazole, or reaction products of the above Thiadiazole with the equimolecular amount of ethylhexanoic acid chloride or one Mixture of aliphatic sulfonic acid chlorides with 8 to 14 carbon atoms. Even Mixtures of these substances can be used.
B. etwa 2%, verwenden. The substances mentioned are mixed to protect the equipment at risk the oils to be converted continuously or periodically. Already enough for this purpose very small amounts down to 0.00010 / 0. : Ulan can also use larger quantities, z. B. about 2%, use.
The protection of the apparatus parts can also be done in such a way that the inner walls are covered with protective materials or their solutions before commissioning, z. B. in oils, coated or sprayed. Can also be dissolved or emulsified in water the protective substances mentioned are used. Usually you will get them before the Apply commissioning to the inner walls and also during the process small amounts of it, expediently in dissolved or emulsified form, add e.g. B. by injecting a solution or emulsion in front of the parts of the apparatus in where condensation occurs.
It is known that cleaning agents containing water-soluble phosphates can be added to compounds which have the structure in the molecule wherein X is oxygen or sulfur, Y is an amino or mercapto group and one of the valences shown as unconnected for each of the adjacent carbon atoms can be consumed by a double bond between these carbon atoms. These additives are intended to reduce the tarnishing of nickel and copper alloys.
It is also known for washing textiles in apparatus made of enamelled Use steel or aluminum detergents other than alkali phosphates and silicates Condensation products from tertiary mercaptans with 6 to 20 carbon atoms in Molecule and 5 to 20 times the molar amount of ethylene oxide. These detergents should protect the surface of the washing equipment from etching, roughening and corrosion protection. Since the known means are not applied under conditions under which stress corrosion occurs and because they have additives other than dimercapto-thiadiazole contained, it could not be deduced from the acquaintance that 2,5-dimercapto-1,3,4-thiadiazole and its derivatives are suitable for protecting metals against stress corrosion.
Example sulfur-containing crude oil residues are in a pressure vessel treated with hydrogen at a temperature of 480 ° C. and a pressure of 300 atm. After flowing through a regenerator, the products reach a cooler, the in an amount of 0.051 / 9, based on the reaction product, an aqueous emulsion of the reaction product of 1 mol of 2,5-dimercapto-1,3,4-thiadiazole with 1 mol of ethylhexanoic acid chloride is injected. Any corrosion damage was done to the equipment, too after a long period of operation, not observed.
