Description
Process for the production of tar oils with increased viscosity The invention relates to a process for the production of tar oils with increased viscosity, starting from tar oils, in particular coal tar oils, of lower conventional viscosity, which are used as sealing oils. As in a number of uses, e.g. B. when using tar oils for sealing, higher viscosities are necessary than are inherent in the tar oils, it has been proposed to increase the viscosity by blowing with air at elevated temperature. On the one hand, this proposal is disadvantageous due to the high production costs - but also because the vitrification necessarily and inevitably produces soot-like substances, so that the blown oil is generally very dark, almost black in color and as a result of the increased proportion of soot-like constituents has a significantly poorer water separation ability than the unblown starting oil. Since sealing oils should, however, have a good water release capacity, the water release capacity, which is impaired by the blowing process, has to be improved by adding surface-active compounds, whereby it is generally not possible to achieve the good water release capacity of the unblown starting oil again.
Hautabscheidung. So this way of increasing the viscosity of tar oils is with burdened with many disadvantages. Another way, by adding high polymer compounds Increasing the viscosity of tar oils fails because of the lack of solubility these compounds and the resulting formation or skin deposition.
The invention now proposes a way of producing tar oils increased viscosity from tar oils of normal viscosity, which has the previous disadvantages avoids and also has a number of advantages.
The surprising finding was made that by adding polyvinyl chloride with a molecular weight of 75,000 to 150,000 (K value 60 to 80) in an amount of 0.5 to 3 0 / ", preferably 1.0 to 1.25 0 /" to tar oils, in particular coal tar oils, an increase in the viscosity of the tar oils is possible in a simple manner without considerable costs.
This increase in viscosity of the tar oils according to the invention by adding polyvinyl chloride is done according to a preferred embodiment by mixing the polyvinyl chloride with a relatively small amount of the tar oil at a temperature of 100 ° C, for the production of a concentrate at about 90 to 100 ° C, for the production of a concentrate with a content of about 5 Ω / □, polyvinyl chloride and dilution of the concentrate by stirring in further tar oil while maintaining a temperature in the specified range until the desired concentration in the range from 0.5 to 3 Ω / ″ is obtained, preferably in the range of 1 . 0/0 to 1.25, polyvinyl chloride According to a further preferred embodiment, the tar oils whose viscosity is to be increased, coal-tar used in a boiling range between 220 and 430'C, which in itself - with the exception of low viscosity - for lubricants and sealing purposes are suitable.
According to a further preferred embodiment, tar oils, in particular of the boiling point indicated above, used before the addition of the polyvinyl chloride subjected to deep freezing, if necessary with subsequent filtration are.
Despite the relatively small amount of polyvinyl chloride added the viscosity is increased considerably in the procedure according to the invention. So With an addition of 1.251) /, polyvinyl chloride, the viscosity of the tar oil increases about 2 to 3 times, with an addition of 2.5 l) /, polyvinyl chloride about around 4 times without the water separability deteriorating and the tar oil turns a darker color. Show even after prolonged use as a sealing oil In tar oils thickened according to the invention, no sedimentation or skin formations can be observed.
Mixtures of tar oils or tar oil fractions with polyvinyl chloride and, if appropriate, pitch and other substances are known in the production of plastic compositions or lacquer bases to achieve solid lacquer coatings. The invention is not based on the discovery of the compatibility of polyvinyl chloride with tar oils, in particular coal tar oils, e.g. B. tar oils, which are suitable as such as lubricants or sealing agents, but rather is to increase the viscosity of tar oils without abolishing their oily character and without worsening the water - secreting ability, i. H. to increase or bring about the suitability of these tar oils as sealing oil, surprisingly, as tests have shown, sediment deposits and skin formations, which would have been expected according to the proposals of the prior art, do not occur.
The following examples explain the invention and represent preferred embodiments, Example 1 2400 kg of tar oil boiling up to 270'C .......... 1004 to 336'C .......... 50010 to 402'C .......... 900 /, with a viscosity of 1.3'E at 50'C , 120 kg of powdery dry polyvinyl chloride (K value 71) Intimately mixed for 15 minutes at a temperature of 90'C. - 9600 kg of the starting oil are stirred into this concentrate at the same temperature within 20 minutes.
