Um dieses zu erzielen, werden die Führungsflächen der Wange, auf welchen der Support gleitet, gewöhnlich aufsen am Spindelkasten angeordnet, so dafs sie am Reitstock vorbeigehen, wobei die langen Führungen des Supportes aufsen zu beiden Seiten des Spindelkastens bezw. des Reitstockes weitergeführt werden können, aber' immer sehr schmal gehalten werden müssen. Dadurch bleiben aber die Führungsflächen der Wange stets frei und sind nicht gegen die vom Arbeitsstück herunterfallenden Drehspäne geschützt, so dafs diese immer leicht zwischen die Führungen gelangen.
