Process for the preparation of diazapolymethine dyes It has been found that diazapolymethine dyes of the general formula in which R is an alkyl radical, R1 is a hydrogen atom or an alkyl radical, R2 is a hydrogen atom, an alkyl, aralkyl or aryl radical, where the alkyl radicals R and R2 can be connected to one another directly or via a heteroatom, X and Y are non-ionic Substituents, in particular constituents of an optionally further substituted o-condensed benzene ring, A the divalent radical of an amine or enamine capable of coupling, its amino group via an alkyl radical with the group is connected, and - Z denotes the anion of an inorganic or organic mono- or polybasic acid when using amines or enamines of the general formula in which A, R1 and R2 have the meaning given above, couples with dianotated 2-aminothiazoles or 2-aminobenzothiazoles and converts the azo dyes obtained with quaternizing agents into the color salts of the formula given above.

The dyes are in the form of their formula corresponding to the formula given at the beginning
neutral salts readily soluble in water. In particular, the acidic salts show that by
Addition of a molecule of an inorganic acid to the external amino group occurs,
a solubility in water that is higher than the water solubility of comparable ones,
known dyes without an amino group outside the coloring system.
erhält man sehr echte Färbungen.
The dyes are suitable for dyeing a wide variety of materials, such as tannin cotton, cellulose acetate, linear polyamides, urethanes and esters. Particularly on polymers and copolymers made from acrylonitrile or dicyanethylene, very true colorations are obtained. From French Patent 1,145,235 Diazapolymethinfarbstoffe are known that do not contain amino group outside of the coloring system. Compared to these known dyes, the diazapolymethine dyes obtainable according to the invention are distinguished by significantly better over-dyeing fastnesses, in particular on polyacrylonitrile fibers.

Example 18 parts of 2-amino-6-methaxybenzthiazole are diazotized in the customary manner with nitrosylsulfuric acid and which dissolves in water with a pure blue color. From a neutral, acetic acid or sulfuric acid dyebath, very pure acrylonitrile and 5% butyl methacrylate are obtained on a fabric of the copolymer of 95010 acrylonitrile and 5% butyl methacrylate; greenish blue dyeings with excellent light and wet fastness properties.
coupled with a sulfuric acid, aqueous solution of 24 parts of N, N, N'-triethyl-N'-phenylethylenediamine. After the coupling has ended, it is neutralized with aqueous sodium hydroxide solution, filtered off with suction and washed on the filter. The dried dye is dissolved in 250 parts of dimethylformamide, and 13.5 parts of dimethyl sulfate are added while stirring. The mixture is heated to 90 to 100 ° C. until a pure blue solution has formed, and it is poured into 2000 parts of water. The color salt is precipitated, isolated and dried by adding sodium chloride. 56 parts of a dye of the formula are obtained. A dye which is equivalent in terms of color is obtained if the methylation is carried out in xylene or chlorobenzene.
