Bei Signallampen, die mit Blinklicht arbeiten, besteht die Notwendigkeit, im Falle des Durchbrennens einer Lampe bzw. eines Hauptfadens die Reservelampe bzw. den Nebenfaden einzuschalten. Hierbei muß dafür gesorgt werden, daß das Überwachungsrelais dauernd angezogen bleibt, also durch die Unterbrechung des Stromes am Blinker nicht zum Abfallen gebracht wird. Dies ist auf verschiedene Weise bewirkt worden, z. B. durch Verzögerung mittels eines parallel geschalteten Kondensators bzw. durch Überbrückung des Blinkkontaktes mittels eines Widerstandes. In vielen Fällen, z. B. bei Überwegsignalanlagen, werden nun noch weitere Forderungen gestellt, z. B. sollen zwei oder mehr Signallampen in Reihe geschaltet und die Hauptfäden bzw. auch die Nebenfäden laufend auf Betriebsbereitschaft überprüft werden. Zu diesem Zweck müssen als Überwacher entweder zwei Relais mit verschiedenem Widerstand verwendet werden oder ein Relais mit zwei verschiedenen Wicklungen, von denen die eine das Relais zum Anziehen bringt oder angezogen hält, ohne daß die Lampen zum Aufleuchten kommen, während die andere das Relais in angezogener Lage hält und einen so geringen Widerstand aufweist, daß die Lampen leuchten. Durch das Hellschalterelais wird zwar der Kontakt 5 a geschlossen. Da aber der Kontakt 42 des Relais 4 geöffnet ist, können die Nebenfäden nicht aufleuchten. Andererseits wird durch die dritte Wicklung 6 c, die an den Gegenkontakt 3 b des Blinkers angeschlossen ist, verhindert, daß das Überwachungsrelais 6 durch das dauernde Unterbrechen und Schließen des Blinkerkontaktes 3 α beeinflußt wird.
