Description
KAISERLICHESIMPERIAL
PATENTAMT.PATENT OFFICE.
The present process makes it possible to obtain jewelry and articles of daily use in the most varied of marbling. For this purpose, the negative of the desired objects is modeled into plaster of paris, which is in a suitable shape. After the latter has been removed, the negative is filled with softened rubber strips, ready for vulcanization, of any shape, size, and color to be chosen, in such a way that the part protruding from the plaster of paris acquires the appearance of the desired object. Depending on the variation of differently colored rubber strips you can get the most varied appearance of the body, e.g. B. Imitations of agate, coral and ivory ware ; , or objects with so-called. Japanese goods or those with inlaid stone work (mosaic) are to be compared. When the negative is filled (stuffed) with the various rubber strips combined into one piece, the second half of the mold is placed, which has obtained a corresponding part of the negative by being filled with soft plaster of paris and pressed onto the other part containing the model became. The two halves are pressed together again in a press so that the rubber article has a greater density and thus a more advantageous appearance after completion. The whole thing is then in a suitable room at 160 to 165 ° C.
After removal and cooling, the form is taken apart, the Object removed from the plaster of paris, cleaned and ready for sale by suitable further processing made.
An exemplary embodiment is described in more detail below: The shape is advantageously used a two-part cuvette made of metallic material. The lower half of the cuvette consists of a single piece, while the lid of the upper half is detachable is.
Nach Erhärtung des Gipses wird die Form aus einander genommen; da-The lower half is filled with plaster of paris and the plaster is still soft Wax, gutta-percha and similar models are impressed in such a way that the part which should later get the peculiar appearance, freely on the surface of the plaster to days. The second cuvette with a lid is then also filled with gypsum paste filled in, and after the surface of the model and the plaster in the lower half is well coated with OeI, both halves are pressed against each other. The one from the The part of the model protruding from the lower half of the cuvette is pressed into the soft plaster of paris second half one; the excess plaster escapes from the spaces between the removable ones Lid with the second half of the cuvette forms. After the plaster of paris has hardened, the mold is taken apart; there-
Auch das Aussehen von Edelsteinen, ferner von Korallen oder auch Elfenbein läfst sich durch entsprechend gefärbten Kautschuk erreichen.by having the cuvette provided with the model well oiled beforehand the parts separate without damaging the plaster of paris. The wax or Gutta-percha model is softened by boiling water and thus easily removed from the Plaster removed. In place of the wax, the one that was previously used becomes useful in one sucked Warm water apparatus softened and inserted rubber prepared for the vulcanization process. The later appearance mainly depends on this insertion (plugging) of the negative of the object. Depending on whether the rubber is used in the form of cube-shaped or prismatic strips one the different appearance of the finished item. The color of the rubber can in the most varied of ways and the differently colored stripes in a very specific combination of colors so that any imitations of products can be made the agate or marble industry. Even the appearance of precious stones Corals or ivory can also be removed by using appropriately colored rubber reach.
After the tamping is complete, the upper half of the cuvette together with the lid is put back on, put the whole thing under the press again to give the rubber object a more solid structure admit; the pressed rubber escapes through previously buried in the plaster of paris Gutters.
The cuvette is then screwed into a Cuvettenbügel and subjected to a heat 160-165 0 C. long ι hour. This is done in a suitable manner in a vulcanizing apparatus filled with a little water, which is sufficiently large to be able to accommodate very many forms at once.
Vulcanization takes place after approx. 1 hour. The form is removed from the apparatus, allowed to cool, then knocked apart, with the object in his Raw state comes to light. The same is removed from the plaster of paris, cleaned with water and a brush, whereupon the elaboration with scraper, graver etc. takes place. In the end it is the same rubbed off with sandpaper, on a polishing machine with brush, oil and emery and Treated with fine chalk and alcohol to increase the polish.
Brooches, shirt buttons, cufflinks, Hairpins, fittings for cigar cases etc., coverings for small tables and others Depending on how it is processed, furniture can be made from the rubber objects produced according to the present process make. The objects are permanent and unbreakable, so to speak.
The procedure can still be modified so that when you fill in the negative In addition to rubber, there are other materials such as mother-of-pearl, any metal plates, mica and the like, are used; they combine with the rubber during vulcanization, thereby enhancing the splendid appearance of the finished product.
It is not absolutely necessary to make the model out of soft material; man can use one made of wood, paper mache or metal for many objects. If you want to use such a model, oil it before pressing it in well into the plaster of paris so that it can be easily removed later.
