Drilling fluid The use of carboxymethyl cellulose as well as
of starch as a protective colloid for drilling fluids, in particular for salt and clay fluids
or magnesium chloride clay rinses, is known. However, both have so far been exclusive
used on its own. However, it has been shown that a mixture of both
Components versus the use of equal amounts of one or the other substance
Brings advantages. So will through. the addition of this mixture by the press water value
Expressed water-binding capacity of the rinses significantly improved. aside from that
The flow properties of the salt-clay rinses are also improved by increasing the flow limit
and thus also has a favorable effect on the load-bearing capacity. The gel strengths will also be
increased significantly. These effects on the flow properties are with salt-clay rinses
and 1-lagnesium chloride clay rinses are of particular importance, as both of them
the flow limits as well as the gel strengths show values that are slightly too low. The duration
the protective colloid effect is also enhanced by the simultaneous use of the
increases both components and the thermal stability of the so-offset. Douches
improved. These effects are apparently due to the fact that the components
act mutually as protective colloids.
The carboxymethyl celluloses can optionally be used for the stated purpose
also through corresponding starch derivatives, in particular carboxymethyl starches (starch glycolates),
be replaced in whole or in part. Both normal swelling starches can be used as starch
as well as starch components, especially amylopectin, are used.
The advantages achieved by the invention in terms of increase
the yield point of the gel strengths and the improvement of the water-binding capacity
were confirmed by the following tests.

(III) verwandt. Eine vergleichende Untersuchung aller drei Ansätze hatte folgende

A press water quantity of 4.7 ccm for the rinse with only carboxymethylcellulose and 5.3 ccm for the rinse with only amylopectin is offset by 3.5 ccm when using the mixture of the two protective colloids. While the real flow limit for the mud mixed with only CMC is only 2 dyn / cm2 at 20 ° C and 4 dyn / cm2 at 40 ° C, the corresponding values for the mud mixed with the mixture are 40 and 48 dyn / cm2. Corresponding behavior is expressed in the gel strengths. The 0-minute gel strength of 5 dyn / cm2 of the rinse with only CMC is increased in the rinse with the mixture to 67 dyn / cm2 at 20 ° C and 74 dyn / cm2 at 40 ° C. For the 10-minute gel strength, the comparable values are like 14 or 19 to 220 or 230. Example 35.4 bentonite clay (trade name “Tixoton”) are poured into 8701 water for 24 hours to produce 1 m3 of a salt-clay rinse swollen. 15 kg of amylopectin or low-viscosity swelling starch and 15 kg of low-viscosity carboxymethyl cellulose or carboxymethyl starch (starch glycolate) are dissolved in the swelling. 311 kg of table salt are now dissolved in this mixture.
