Kalkstein, welche beide möglichst kieselsäurefrei sein müssen, wird gebrannt, gepulvert und mit einer neutralen wässrigen Lösung von Chloriden der Alkalien und der alkalischen Erden im erforderlichen Verhältnifs Übergossen, welches letztere je nach der Beschaffenheit des zur Disposition stehenden Dolomits oder Kalksteins variirt. Die Masse wird gut durchgearbeitet und nach dem Erkalten entweder zum Einstampfen der Ofenwandungen verwendet, oder durch Zusatz von Wasser behufs Erzeugung von Ziegeln, Gefäfsen oder von Mörtel in die dazu erforderliche teigartige bezw. breiartige Consistenz gebracht. Die Fabrikation von Ziegeln oder Gefäfsen aus der erwähnten Masse erfolgt in der, bei der Herstellung solcher Gegenstände aus Thon (Thonziegeln etc.) üblichen bekannten Weise, indem die geformten Gegenstände getrocknet und gebrannt werden.
