Description
TECHNISCHES GEBIET DER ERFINDUNGTECHNICAL FIELD OF THE INVENTION
The invention relates to an attachment for attachment to the open end of a drain pipe of a water basin according to the preamble of claim 1. A further aspect of the invention relates to a water basin with a water inlet and a drain pipe, with an attachment being arranged on the drain pipe.
HINTERGRUND DER ERFINDUNGBACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
In today's water supply, a water basin is usually used to separate impurities from flowing water. It is common practice to place a drain pipe in the water basin below the expected water level. This is intended to drain the water that is close to the water surface out of the water basin through the drain pipe. It is expected that the coarse impurities in the water will settle at the bottom of the pool and that the water close to the water surface will be free of these impurities. Dirt particles can also be present in the water, which float on the surface of the water due to their low density. So that these do not get into the drain pipe, the drain pipe is arranged at a certain distance from the water surface. At least the open end of the drain pipe is at a certain distance from the water surface. In practice, it is common practice to use a diving bow. With its curved end piece, this ensures that the open end is at a certain distance from the water surface.
In addition to the impurities that settle on the bottom and those floating on the water surface, the water basin can also contain other impurities that float in the water below the water surface. These are usually contaminants that initially float on the surface of the water and, over time, absorb so much water that they sink to a certain depth and float in the water at this height. A typical example of this is cigarette butts. If the open end of the drain pipe is now below the water level, it may be level with the contaminants floating in the water. This means that the contaminants at this height would easily get into the drain pipe.
A strainer or grate at the open end of the drain pipe can be used to keep contaminants from entering the drain pipe, allowing water to pass through the strainer or grate but preventing contaminants from entering. During operation, this can lead to the impurities retained on the sieve or grid at least partially clogging the sieve or grid. The reduced free area on the sieve or grid in turn leads to a restriction of the water flow and can lead to the drain being completely blocked. Such a device would not be practical as it would have to be checked and cleaned frequently.
AUFGABETASK
It is therefore an object of the present invention to propose an attachment for attachment to the open end of a drain pipe of a water basin, which prevents contaminants floating in the water from entering the drain pipe. At the same time, the attachment should enable lower-frequency maintenance of the attachment and the water basin.
BESCHREIBUNGDESCRIPTION
The task is solved with an attachment for attachment to the open end of a drain pipe of a water basin with the features of patent claim 1.
The attachment comprises a cylindrical structure, with one side of the lid being open and forming the connection to the drain pipe. The diameter of the cylindrical attachment is between 100 and 250 mm, preferably between 110 and 200 mm. The attachment has a large number of openings on its lateral surface. The sum of all the areas formed by the openings is approximately the same size or larger than the cross-sectional area of the cylindrical attachment, with the openings on the lateral surface each having an area of a maximum of 1000 mm 2
Attaching the attachment to the drain pipe filters the draining water from the dirt it contains before the water enters the drain pipe. This means that the draining water is separated from the dirt and the dirt remains in the water basin. The openings on the lateral surface of the attachment cause the water to flow through these openings and thus through the lateral surface of the cylindrical attachment. Due to the cylindrical structure of the attachment with the openings in its lateral surface, recirculation zones form on the outer surface of the attachment. These recirculation zones can vary in size sen change regardless of whether the water flows into the water basin constantly or variably. The geometric resistance of the attachment to the outflowing water and the presence of water recirculation zones on the outside of the attachment lead to a water flow on the attachment with locally different directions. The locally different directions of the water flow at the attachment ensure that the dirt does not remain or settle on the outside of the attachment, which occurs due to the momentum of the outflowing water flow in commercially available plate-shaped sieves. In the case of the attachment according to the invention, it is important that the attachment allows flow through the openings in its lateral surface. Since the cylinder axis of the attachment lies approximately on the central axis of the drain pipe, the water flowing through the openings arranged in the lateral surface must change direction by 90° in order to then flow in the direction of the drain pipe. Among other things, the change in direction of the water flow in the attachment leads to locally different water flow directions on the outside of the attachment. The openings on the lateral surface of the attachment also make it possible to choose the orientation of the drain pipe and thus the attachment accordingly. An ideal alignment of the attachment is achieved when the cylinder axis of the attachment is parallel to the direction of inflow of water into the water basin. The impulse of the inflowing water leads to a water flow on the lateral surface of the attachment parallel to its cylinder axis, which means that the dirt present on the lateral surface is washed away and can settle at the bottom of the water basin if necessary.
In a preferred embodiment, the openings each have a maximum area of 300 mm 2 . The sum of all the areas formed by the openings in an attached attachment is at least as large as the cross-sectional area of the cylindrical attachment. The limitation of the area of the individual openings on the lateral surface of the attachment thus leads to a minimum number of openings. This minimum number depends on the size of the cross-sectional area. A larger number of openings in combination with a smaller area per opening leads to a better filter function of the attachment. Because of the smaller areas of the individual openings, only those dirt particles that have a smaller area in a cross section than the opening can pass through the attachment. If the total area of the openings remains the same, the frictional resistance of the water flowing out increases as the area size of the individual opening decreases. The greater frictional resistance of the draining water at the attachment leads to a greater pressure drop in the water when it enters the attachment.
The number of openings on the lateral surface is preferably between 50 and 300. Taking into account the minimum size of the total area of the openings, the number of 300 openings results in the smallest area per opening. A higher number of openings would lead to even smaller openings, which increases the flow resistance of the water being drained and thus also the pressure drop across the attachment. If the number of openings is less than 50, the area per opening can be so large that the attachment can no longer completely guarantee that dirt can be filtered out. Therefore, the number of 50 to 300 openings forms an optimal range with a low pressure drop in the draining water across the attachment and a good filtering rate of dirt.
In a preferred embodiment, the total area of all openings on the lateral surface is a maximum of 25%, preferably 15%, larger than the cross-sectional area of the cylindrical attachment. The upper limit for the total area of all openings on the lateral surface means that the attachment derives maximum benefit from the openings. This means that the geometry of the attachment is not unnecessarily enlarged and a compact design of the attachment is possible.
Advantageously, the total area of all openings on the lateral surface is a maximum of 4 dm 2 . The total area of all openings should not exceed the value of 4 dm 2 , since with a higher value the number of openings or the area per opening will be too large. This would negatively affect the filter function of the attachment. At the same time, the limitation of the maximum total area of the openings enables a compact structure of the attachment. This greatly increases the stability of the attachment against mechanical stress.
Preferably the openings are formed by gaps. Columns are characterized by combining a narrow width with a pronounced length. For the openings formed as columns, this means that the openings are recesses with a length that is many times greater than their width. The shape of a gap has the advantage of the openings arranged on the lateral surface of the attachment that the dirt particles whose smallest side is the same size or larger than the width of the gap cannot pass through the attachment. Therefore, openings in the form of gaps are very suitable for use as filters.
The gap advantageously has a width of 0.2 - 10 mm. This allows dirt Particles whose smallest side is larger than 10 mm do not pass through the attachment. The individual column can have an arbitrarily small area and an arbitrarily small width. A small area can be compensated with an increased number of columns and a small width with an increased length of the columns. The columns should not be less than 0.2 mm wide, otherwise the number of columns would have to increase and a larger number of columns with smaller areas would cause a greater pressure drop across the attachment.
In a further preferred embodiment, the columns are formed by struts which have a triangular or trapezoidal cross section and taper towards the inside of the attachment. This means that the lateral surface of the attachment includes struts and gaps are formed between the struts. Advantageously, the gap changes its area minimally or not at all in the radial direction. An arrangement to achieve a constant gap width in the radial direction is that the struts are triangular or trapezoidal in cross section. With a triangular cross section, one side of the triangle forms the outer surface of the attachment, whereas the corner point opposite this side has the smallest distance to the central axis of the attachment.
The lateral surface of the cylindrical attachment preferably comprises gaps and struts which have a width of a maximum of 10 mm, preferably a maximum of 7 mm. Since both the struts and the columns have a maximum width, this leads to an increased number of struts and columns, which in turn increases the filter effect of the attachment.
In a further preferred embodiment, the columns are arranged at a uniform distance in the circumferential direction of the outer surface of the attachment. The uniform arrangement of the gaps in the circumferential direction leads to a uniform flow in and through the attachment in the circumferential direction. The uniform flow through the attachment means that the pressure drop of the water across the attachment is the lowest.
The gaps advantageously run parallel to the direction of the cylinder axis. The columns are defined by a length that is many times greater than their width. The direction in which a column runs is determined by its longitudinal direction. The struts that form the columns also run parallel to the cylinder axis. Since the struts are responsible for absorbing load forces, such an arrangement of the gaps allows larger forces acting during operation to be absorbed in the direction of the cylinder axis.
The attachment preferably comprises metal or plastic. Both materials are suitable for use in a casting process. This is important because the attachment with the numerous openings is easiest to produce using a casting process.
In a further preferred embodiment, the cover surface of the attachment is funnel-shaped and shaped towards the outside. The funnel-shaped and outwardly shaped lid forms an obtuse angle with the lateral surface. This allows the force acting on the lid to be better directed to the lateral surface, which in turn increases the stability of the attachment.
The height of the attachment is preferably 1.2 to 2.5 times as large as its diameter. With such a ratio of the attachment, a compact shape can be achieved, which in turn contributes to a higher resistance of the attachment to mechanical loads. If the height of the attachment is more than 2.5 times its diameter, the influence of a bending load on the attachment increases significantly and can lead to earlier failure. If the height is less than 1.2 times the diameter of the attachment, the lateral surface is so small compared to the diameter that this can result in an unfavorable impairment of the filter function of the attachment.
Reinforcing rings which interrupt the gaps are advantageously arranged on the lateral surface in the circumferential direction. Even if the gaps are interrupted by the reinforcing rings and the total area of the openings on the lateral surface is reduced, the reinforcing rings greatly increase the rigidity of the attachment. The increased rigidity ensures reduced deformation of the attachment, which in turn increases its service life.
In a further preferred embodiment, the attachment has a seal on the edge of the open lid surface. The attachment is connected to a drain pipe via the open lid area. Attaching the attachment to the drain pipe results in contact between these two components. The contact point should be as impermeable as possible so that no dirt particles from outside the attachment can get into the drain pipe via the contact point. In order to achieve an impermeable contact point between the attachment and the drain pipe, a seal can be placed on the edge of the open cover surface of the attachment. The seal forms an impermeable barrier between the drain pipe and the attachment arranged on it.
A further aspect of the invention relates to a water basin, in particular a water shaft, with a water inlet and a drain pipe, an attachment according to claim 1 being arranged on the drain pipe. The attachment according to the invention is ideally used on a drain pipe of a water basin. Water is led into the water basin through the water inlet and, among other things, drained away through a drain pipe with an attachment. The dirt particles contained in the supplied water remain in the water basin and are separated from the draining water due to the attachment on the drain pipe.
The drain pipe is preferably formed by a diving bend. The diving arch has an angled end section. This can be arranged in such a way that the opening area of the drain pipe is parallel to the water surface in the water basin. In a filled water basin, the dirt particles floating on the water surface cannot get into the drain pipe as long as the water level in the water basin is above the opening of the drain pipe. The cylinder axis of the attachment is preferably perpendicular to the water level in the water basin. With such an orientation of the attachment, a constant flow is achieved on the outside of the attachment. Regardless of whether the water is fed into the water basin from above or from the side, the water has to change direction in order to get into the drain pipe, resulting in a steady flow on the outer surface of the attachment. The constant flow on the outer surface of the attachment ensures that no dirt particles stick to the attachment and lead to a throttling of the outflowing water flow.
The water flow rate in the water basin is preferably at least 0.5 1/s during operation. With a water flow rate of at least 0.5 1/s, the cleaning effect at the top of the drain pipe is more noticeable. Preventing contamination on the outer surface of the attachment is easier the higher the water throughput and thus the flow speed in the water basin. As the flow speed increases, the level of turbulence in the flow increases, which in turn increases the removal of dirt particles from the attachment.
The optional features mentioned can be implemented in any combination, as long as they are not mutually exclusive. In particular, where preferred ranges are specified, further preferred ranges result from combinations of the minima and maxima mentioned in the ranges.
