Description
Belt conveyors (technically also called conveyor belts, belt conveyors or belt conveyors) are, usually stationary, conveyor devices that belong to the range of continuous conveyors. In the following, no further distinction will be made between the terms “belt” and “belt” or “belt conveyor” and “belt conveyor” as these terms are equivalent.
Bandförderer sind zuverlässige Transportsysteme, die ökonomisch, produktiv und umweltfreundlich aufgrund ihres geringen Energiebedarfs arbeiten (Quelle: Wikipedia zu „Förderband“).Conveying and transport tasks have been carried out in industry by belt conveyors for decades. Belt conveyors have a very high level of operational reliability and have proven themselves in many areas of application. Belt conveyors are reliable transport systems that are economical, productive and environmentally friendly due to their low energy requirements (source: Wikipedia on “conveyor belt”).
Sliding or wear movements occur between the underside of the belt and the supporting element, often a sliding plate construction or a sliding bed. Since there is a very close connection between friction and wear behavior, the influencing factors can only be assigned to both processes at the same time. The most important influencing factors are: material or material pairing; surface quality (roughness, hardness, etc.); surface design; intermediate media (lubricants, compressed air, etc.); surface pressure; sliding speed; and temperature. These factors act simultaneously and are dependent on each other, so that a change in friction behavior cannot easily be attributed to just one of these factors and that a change in one of the factors can also lead to an influence on other factors. Sliding friction occurs in belt conveyors during operation and static friction occurs during a start-up process. The laws established by Amontons and Coulomb are used to describe the friction processes. A proportional dependence of the friction force F R on the normal force F N is specified. The proportionality factor µ is the coefficient of friction: µ = F R /F N .
To improve the friction behavior, i.e. to reduce the coefficient of friction, numerous material pairings have already been examined and tested. There have also already been attempts to introduce air into the area between the belt and the sliding bed, for example by using checker plates for the sliding bed. Furthermore, it has already been proposed to provide the sliding bed with macroscopic grooves in the longitudinal direction in order to create air channels below the belt. However, the groove edges represent sharp (knife) edges, which result in increased wear, especially when piece goods are fed horizontally and obliquely onto the belt conveyor.
The undesirable offset of the belt relative to the sliding bed is weakened or eliminated by using additional components. In the case of an ascending belt conveyor, the downstream slipping of the belt when the belt conveyor is stopped is prevented by appropriate braking devices. When piece goods are introduced laterally onto the centrally arranged belt conveyor, side guides are provided on the edge of the sliding bed or projections on the underside of the belt, which engage positively in corresponding recesses in the sliding bed. This leads to the disadvantages mentioned above.
It is therefore an object of the present disclosure to provide an improved belt conveyor.
This task is solved by a belt conveyor with a directionally optimized coefficient of friction, which has: a sliding bed with a support surface; and a belt which, in contact with the support surface, is slidably moved across the support surface along the conveyance direction while a piece of goods resting on an outside of the belt is transported downstream in a conveying direction; wherein a surface of the support surface and/or an inside of the belt has a topography with an increased coefficient of friction (between the materials of the top and the inside), preferably exclusively in a preferred direction that differs from the conveying direction.
The topography of the contacting surfaces of the support surface and the belt are adjusted depending on the direction (artificially by machining) by setting the coefficient of friction (between the corresponding material pairing) higher in a preselected direction than in another direction, the other direction preferably being the conveying direction is. In other words, this means that the belt simply slides over the support surface in the conveying direction, whereas when the belt moves in an undesirable direction, greater resistance arises between the contacting surfaces due to a higher coefficient of friction.
In the case of an ascending belt conveyor, braking devices can be dispensed with because the belt cannot slip upstream. The same applies to a gradient belt conveyor.
In the case of a feed conveyor system, a side guide can be dispensed with because the belt of the receiving belt conveyor is deflected to a lesser extent or not at all in the feed direction (the feed conveyor) by the feeding of piece goods.
Preferably, the preferred direction (in a top view) is oriented opposite, at an acute angle, or perpendicular to the conveying direction.
The preferred direction is oriented opposite to the conveying direction if the belt conveyor is an ascending belt conveyor.
The preferred direction is oriented at an acute angle obliquely or perpendicularly to the conveying direction when the belt conveyor is used in a feed conveyor system where the feed conveyors either adjoin the centrally arranged belt conveyor at an acute angle obliquely (viewed in the conveying direction) or perpendicularly.
In particular, the topography is produced (by machine) by the direct laser interference structuring process.
The direct laser interference structuring process is characterized by the fact that material can be specifically removed with a very high resolution (micrometer range and below) using laser interference. This process is ideal for changing the surface texture, i.e. the topography, depending on the direction in a way that can be determined in advance.
The topography preferably has a micropattern in the micrometer and submicrometer range, which in particular repeats itself periodically or is structured regularly.
The processing of the surfaces in contact with one another in the micrometer range enables the direction-dependent functionalization of the surfaces, i.e. the direction-dependent optimization of the coefficient of friction. This goes beyond the “normal” coefficient of friction, which is direction-independent (and area-independent) on a macroscopic scale.
In particular, the micropattern is formed from a plurality of projections, which preferably have a predetermined profile shape (in side view).
The surface therefore has a predetermined texture that a designer of the belt conveyor can specify in advance, and in particular depending on the direction. The design is particularly application-specific.
The projections are advantageously arranged in rows. In particular, the rows are aligned perpendicular to the conveying direction.
The row-by-row arrangement and the alignment of the rows increase the order of the projections and therefore result in the desired directional dependence of the optimized coefficient of friction.
The projections are preferably tooth-shaped, the projections each in particular comprising a first flank, which rises less steeply in a conveying direction than a second flank, and the second flank, which adjoins the first flank in the conveying direction.
This profile shape is particularly suitable for ascending belt conveyors to prevent the belt from slipping upstream when the belt is stopped. This means there is no need for brakes.
Alternatively, the projections can be pyramid-shaped, wherein the projections each preferably have a first flank, which rises less steeply in the opposite direction to a feed direction than a second flank, which is arranged in front of the first flank in the feed direction, and the second flank.
This profile shape is particularly suitable for feed conveyor systems where the belt conveyor is centrally arranged and picks up piece goods laterally from one or more feed conveyors. A lateral deflection of the belt is reduced or prevented when introducing piece goods.
In particular, the topography is formed in a coating (layer).
The topography therefore does not have to be created directly on the surface of the sliding bed or the inside of the belt, but can be formed in a separate layer, which can have different material properties than the sliding bed or the belt.
The coating also enables the topography to be subsequently applied to the sliding bed and/or the belt. The topography can be created separately from the sliding bed and/or belt. This means that the topography, for example, can only be connected to the sliding bed and/or the belt on site. This is particularly advantageous for retrofitting existing belt conveyors.
Preferably the topography is integrated into the sliding bed. The sliding bed is often made of metal. Laser-based generation of topography can be easily achieved on metal surfaces (as well as on polymer surfaces).
Metals are abrasion resistant, so contamination of the topography is less significant during the life of the belt conveyor.
In particular, the topography is only provided in an area of laterally arranged feed conveyors.
This means that the topography does not have to extend the entire length of the belt conveyor. The topography can be planned in sections. This reduces the costs of the overall system. The topography is only intended in areas where disruptive forces can occur.
It is further preferred if the topography is (also) integrated into the band.

The
The
The
The

The sliding
Sheet steel, hard plastics (Formica, Duropal or similar), (glued) plywood panels or similar are generally used as support surface materials, as already explained above for the
The
The direction-dependent coefficient of friction optimization is to be understood as meaning an optimization of the contacting surfaces such that the coefficient of friction in a selected direction (preferred direction) is higher than in (all) other directions, in particular in the normal conveying
Surfaces with deterministic topographies 44 exhibit superior surface properties compared to traditional (natural) surfaces with a random roughness. Roughness describes an unevenness of a surface height. The surface roughness can be changed - conventionally - e.g. by polishing, burnishing, grinding, pickling, sandblasting, etching, vapor deposition or corrosion.

It goes without saying that each of the rows 54 can also be formed by a single projection 48 (continuous in the Z direction).

The feed conveyors 60-1 and 60-2 move the piece goods 30 (due to their orientation) perpendicularly onto the centrally arranged
Furthermore, obliquely oriented feed conveyors 60 can be provided, see feed conveyors 60-3 and 60-4, which adjoin the

Furthermore, it is possible to align the micropattern in such a way that a restoring force is generated in the lateral edge regions of the
It is clear that the materials of the surfaces in contact with one another (
Furthermore, it is understood that in addition to the tooth and pyramid shape discussed above, other (cross-sectional) shapes for the
The shape of the arrangement of the
