Diese Aufgabe wird dadurch gelöst, dass die Stützelemente durch flexible Stützbänder gebildet sind, die jeweils an zwei benachbarten Seitenwandungsabschnitten des Faltwandungsrings befestigt sind und in aufgestelltem Funktionszustand des Faltwandungsrings jeweils über Eck zwischen den beiden benachbarten Seitenwandungsabschnitten parallel zu dem Palettenboden aufgespannt sind. Ein Aufspannen der flexiblen Stützbänder erfolgt zwangsläufig bei einem Aufstellen des Faltwandungsrings. Aufgrund der Flexibilität der Stützbänder falten diese sich bei einem Zusammenfalten des Faltwandungsrings zwangsläufig ebenfalls zusammen, ohne dass die Stützbänder selbst separat gehandhabt werden müssen. In zusammengefaltetem Zustand kann der Faltwandungsring auf den Palettenboden flach abgelegt und platzsparend transportiert werden. Die flexiblen Stützbänder bilden in zusammengefaltetem Zustand des Faltwandungsrings eine einfache Schlaufe. Ihre Längen sind so bemessen, dass die Stützbänder bei einem Aufstellen des Faltwandungsrings zwangsläufig gestrafft aufgespannt werden. In ihrer gestrafften Funktionsstellung erstrecken sich die Stützbänder parallel zu dem Palettenboden. Alle Stützbänder sind auf gleicher Höhe innerhalb des Faltwandungsrings angeordnet, so dass in aufgestelltem Funktionszustand des Faltwandungsrings ein auf den Stützbändern aufliegender Zwischenboden horizontal und damit parallel zu einer Grundfläche des Palettenbodens ausgerichtet ist. In vorteilhafter Weise sind der Palettenboden und der Faltwandungsring aus Kunststoff hergestellt. Der Palettenboden ist vorzugsweise als Twin-Sheet-Bauteil gestaltet aus zwei tiefziehfähigen Kunststoffplatten, die in einem Twin-Sheet-Werkzeug gemeinsam tiefgezogen werden unter Bildung von Hohlräumen und unter Verschweißung der entsprechend gebildeten Kunststoffschalen miteinander. Hierdurch ergibt sich ein zweischaliges, sehr robustes Kunststoffbauteil. Auch der Faltwandungsring ist aus Kunststoff hergestellt, entweder ebenfalls als zweischaliges Kunststoffbauteil, hergestellt im Twin-Sheet-Tiefziehverfahren, oder als einschaliges Kunststoffbauteil. Der Faltwandungsring ist an mehreren, parallel zueinander verlaufenden Falzlinien zusammenfaltbar gestaltet, um bei Nichtbenutzung eine platzsparende Lagerung oder einen platzsparenden Transport des Faltwandungsrings zu ermöglichen. Der Palettenboden ist vorteilhaft mit einer umlaufenden Stecknut versehen, in die der Faltwandungsring in aufgestelltem Funktionszustand mit einem unteren Stirnrand eingesteckt werden kann. Ergänzend kann der Transportbehälter noch einen Deckel aufweisen, der vorzugsweise ebenfalls im Twin-Sheet-Verfahren als zweischaliges Kunststoffbauteil gestaltet ist, und der zum Verschließen des durch den Faltwandungsring gebildeten Aufnahmeraums von oben her auf den Faltwandungsring aufsetzbar ist. Ergänzend kann der Deckel auch direkt auf den Palettenboden aufgesetzt werden unter Bildung eines flachen Aufnahmeraums, in dem der Faltwandungsring in seiner zusammengefalteten Ruhestellung lagerbar ist. Erfindungsgemäß können ein oder mehr Zwischenböden vorgesehen sein. Falls mehr als ein Zwischenboden vorgesehen sind, die parallel übereinander angeordnet sind, ist in unterschiedlichen Ebenen eine entsprechend angepasste Anzahl flexibler Stützbänder vorgesehen. Falls ein Zwischenboden vorgesehen ist, sind vier über Eck aufspannbare Stützbänder vorgesehen. Bei zwei parallel übereinander positionierbaren Zwischenböden sind insgesamt acht über Eck aufspannbare Stützbänder vorgesehen, wobei jeweils vier Stützbänder in einer gemeinsamen Horizontalebene ausrichtbar sind. Die anderen vier Stützbänder sind in aufgespannter Stützposition in einer parallelen Horizontalebene ausgerichtet. Die Stirnendabschnitte sind in Hochrichtung nach unten oder oben angerichtet. In weiterer Ausgestaltung der Erfindung sind die Stirnendabschnitte in Hochrichtung nach oben ausgerichtet.
