Description

The invention relates to a dishwasher comprising a housing with a drain and a basket arranged in the housing for the dishes to be washed, a rotatable spray arm with spray nozzles for spraying the dishes to be washed, a supply line for washing water and a storage container for a detergent.

A dishwasher is used to clean dishes such as plates and cups, cutlery, kitchen utensils or other items. For this purpose, the dishwasher has an openable housing with a basket arranged therein, into which the dishes and the like to be washed are placed. Furthermore, the dishwasher comprises spray nozzles which are usually arranged on a rotatable spray arm in order to direct water jets onto the dishes to be washed. A feed line, which is permanently connected to a water connection in an apartment, for example, is used to supply rinsing water. The spray nozzles on the spray arm are aligned in such a way that the dishes are sprayed and the rotation of the spray arm is brought about by the recoil force of the sprayed rinse water. The invention is based on the object of creating a dishwasher of the type mentioned at the beginning which is easy to operate and in which the added detergent is automatically metered.

The core idea of the invention is that a dishwasher comprises in a known manner a housing with a basket arranged therein for the dishes to be washed, a supply line for washing water that emerges at spray nozzles on a rotatable spray arm, and a drain for the washing water. Now, however, the storage container for the detergent to be added to the washing water is no longer arranged separately on the housing of the dishwasher but is assigned directly to the supply line for the washing water. This can be a container through which, for example, the flushing water essentially flows completely or the flushing agent is fed directly from the container to the feed line or the flushing water. As a result, the dishwasher, or its housing, for example with the rotatable spray arms with spray nozzles, is already supplied with the mixture of washing water and detergent. Mixing on or in the housing is not necessary and the desired dosage can be fed directly to the dishwasher.

Because the storage container for detergent is already assigned to the supply line, there is also an intimate mixing of detergent and rinse water in order to improve the cleaning performance. The storage container and the supply line can be designed in such a way that a suitable mixing ratio is achieved. In addition, the storage container can be easily refilled, since the feed line for the rinsing water with the associated storage container is freely accessible.

In particular, the invention relates to a currentless dishwasher which can be operated without being connected to a power supply system. For this purpose, the supply line is connected to a pressurized water connection, such as a hot water connection in a kitchen in an apartment. As a result of the water pressure, the rinsing water is sprayed through the spray nozzles onto the dishes to be cleaned, and spray arms can also be set in rotation. Within the scope of the invention it is also included that the dishwasher consists only of a housing with spray nozzles and a supply line, the housing being placed on a crockery basket, for example. The supply line is connected to a tap. This faucet is turned on and the rinsing water is sprayed from the spray nozzles onto the dishes in the crockery basket in order to keep the dishes in the crockery basket to clean. According to a first embodiment, the supply line can be connected to a common household water tap with an adapter. Depending on the design, the adapter can be screwed onto a water tap, for example, in order to be able to use the water tap in the usual way when the dishwasher is not in use. This is operated manually, for example, and preferably has an aerator for normal use of the faucet and a connection for the feed line of the dishwasher.

According to a further development, the storage container is designed to hold solid detergent, for example in the form of so-called detergent tabs or parts thereof or detergent powder. For this purpose, it has an openable and waterproof flap to bring in the solid detergent. During operation, the storage container either has all of the detergent flowing through it or at least part of it via a bypass line. The rinse water dissolves the solid detergent and flows on to the dishwasher. Dosing can also take place here by regulating the flow rate.

Alternatively, the storage container can be set up to hold a liquid detergent, in which case the storage container is equipped with a closable and watertight filling opening for the detergent. In particular, it is equipped with a venturi injector. This is based on the Venturi effect, with a correspondingly designed nozzle under pressure transversely to the direction of flow of the rinsing water, which sucks in the liquid rinsing agent and mixes it with the rinsing water. A metering device in the form of a flow limiter for metering the detergent can be provided here. In particular, it is thus possible to use a conventional washing-up or cleaning agent which is not marketed for special use with dishwashers and is usually cheaper.

The dishwasher preferably comprises two rotatable spray arms with spray nozzles in order to clean the dishes from above and below, so to speak. In principle, however, the spray arms can also rotate about horizontal axes of rotation and / or further spray nozzles are provided in the housing.

A check valve is expediently provided on the supply line, with which the inflow of washing water to the dishwasher can also be prevented separately from the aforementioned adapter with two-way tap. In this way, for example, in the event of a defect in the dishwasher or its housing, the escape of washing water can be quickly prevented.

According to a further embodiment, the dishwasher is equipped with a controller. With this control, for example, the aforementioned shut-off valve can be opened and closed in order to be able to start a flushing process with a preset and selectable time controlled by a timer, preferably at a specific point in time. The control is designed in particular for operation with low voltage, for example twelve volts. This reduces the risk of a life-threatening short circuit due to a leak and the escape of flushing water. The controller, or its power supply, can also be arranged spatially separated from the dishwasher and the supply line with a transformer for a low voltage.

Of course, it is possible to mount the basket so that it can be moved. For example, the basket can be set in motion by the water pressure applied via the supply line or a separate drive, whereby the cleaning performance can be increased.

It is preferred that the two spray arms can be controlled independently of one another. For example, a lower spray arm can first be activated. This means that water is first fed to the lower spray arm via a correspondingly configured valve, which can be configured integrated with the aforementioned shut-off valve, and the dishes are first cleaned from below, so to speak. A switchover then takes place and the upper spray arm is exposed to rinsing water in order to clean the dishes. In principle, the spray arms can also be controlled intermittently or simultaneously in opposite directions, or different cleaning programs, for example with different durations, can be selected.
