Description
Die Erfindung betrifft einen Fluidfilter, insbesondere ein Dieselkraftstofffilter für ein Kraftfahrzeug, gemäß dem Oberbegriff des Anspruchs 1.The invention relates to a fluid filter, in particular a diesel fuel filter for a motor vehicle, according to the preamble of claim 1.
Fluid filters - such as diesel fuel filters - are used in a motor vehicle to rid the fuel of dirt particles and thereby protect the engine. For this, the fuel is conducted from a fluid inlet to a fluid outlet through a particulate filter, which is usually made of a fine mesh material. In contrast to dirt particles, the fuel can pass through the material unhindered and is thus cleaned. In this case, a so-called raw side is defined by the fluid inlet, and a so-called clean side of the particle filter is defined by the fluid outlet.
However, the fuel to be cleaned can contain not only dirt particles but also water droplets, which also have to be filtered out of the fuel.
For this purpose, a density difference of the water droplets and the fuel is used in the conventional fluid filters. Since the density of the water droplets is higher than the density of the fuel, the water droplets settle under the action of the dead weight in the fuel and are collected in a water collecting chamber of the fluid filter. During maintenance of the fluid filter, the water from the water collection chamber is disposed of automatically or manually. However, if the fuel flows at high pressure through the particulate filter, the water droplets can be entrained and enter the internal combustion engine. This is to be avoided in principle.
Die Aufgabe der Erfindung ist es daher, für einen Fluidfilter der gattungsgemäßen Art eine verbesserte oder zumindest alternative Ausführungsform anzugeben, bei der die beschriebenen Nachteile überwunden werden. The object of the invention is therefore to provide an improved or at least alternative embodiment for a fluid filter of the generic type, in which the described disadvantages are overcome.
Diese Aufgabe wird erfindungsgemäß durch den Gegenstand des unabhängigen Anspruchs 1 gelöst. Vorteilhafte Ausführungsformen sind Gegenstand der abhängigen Ansprüche. This object is achieved by the subject of independent claim 1. Advantageous embodiments are the subject of the dependent claims.
The present invention is based on the general idea, in a fluid filter, in particular in a diesel fuel filter for a motor vehicle, to separate the fluid to be filtered and the admixed water even before filtering. For this purpose, the fluid filter has a hollow-cylindrical filter housing with a fluid inlet and with a fluid outlet. A first particulate filter and a second particulate filter are arranged side by side and coaxially in the filter housing, wherein a raw side of the particulate filter with the fluid inlet and a clean side of the particulate filter are fluidly connected to the fluid outlet. The two particle filters can be flowed through in parallel by the fluid to be filtered. According to the invention, the first particle filter is hydrophobic on the raw side and the second particle filter is hydrophilic on the raw side.
A hydrophobic surface and a hydrophilic surface are defined by a contact angle of a water droplet on this surface. The contact angle of the water droplet on the hydrophobic surface is higher than 80 °. On the hydrophilic surface, the contact angle of the water drop is between 0 ° and 80 °. The admixed water can not wet the first hydrophobic particle filter on the raw side and also can not penetrate the first particle filter. By contrast, the admixed water wets the second hydrophilic particle filter on the raw side and can accordingly penetrate the second particle filter.
The fluid to be cleaned flows unfiltered into the fluid filter and can flow unhindered through the first hydrophobic particle filter. The water mixed with the fluid is held unfiltered by the first hydrophobic particle filter and settles. The hydrophobic particle filter may consist of a fine-meshed material, so that the dirt particles mixed with the fluid adhere to the particle filter. The fluid to be filtered thus passes through the particle filter to the clean side and is freed from the admixed water and from the admixed dirt particles. Suitably, the first particulate filter is disposed at the fluid outlet so that the filtered fluid can flow out of the fluid filter. The unfiltered water flows through the second hydrophilic particle filter through to the clean side, wherein also on On the clean side, the filtered fluid and the filtered water remain separated due to the difference in density. The fluid to be filtered is freed in the fluid filter according to the invention already on the raw side of the admixed water and clean side remain the filtered fluid and the filtered water separated. In this way, the fluid to be filtered can be safely freed from the admixed water and the engine of the motor vehicle to be protected. Advantageously, it can be provided that the first particle filter on the raw side has a hydrophobic coating or consists of a hydrophobic material or has such a hydrophobic material. Accordingly, it can be provided that the second particle filter on the raw side has a hydrophilic coating or consists of a hydrophilic material or has such.
In order to prevent a flow of water and of the fluid between the particle filters, the first particle filter and the second particle filter can be separated axially and at least partially from one another by a separating disk. On the clean side, the first particle filter and the second particle filter can be separated from one another in a fluid-tight manner via the separating disk and can also be connected to one another in a fluid-conducting manner. If the particle filters are connected to one another in a fluid-conducting manner on the clean side, a separation of the water from the fluid can also take place on the clean side. If the particle filters on the clean side fluid-tightly separated, so a pure water area is formed exclusively with the filtered water. The clean water area is separated from the filtered fluid by the separation disk, and the filtered water can be disposed of from the clean water area without additional costly filtering.
Advantageously, the second particulate filter may be a coalescer or may consist of a coalescing material. Usually, the admixed water is present in the fluid to be filtered in the form of a plurality of water droplets dissolved in the fluid. A second particle filter designed in this way allows the water drops dissolved in the fluid to flow together, so that larger and correspondingly heavier water droplets are present on the clean side than on the raw side. In this way, an increase of the water droplets is prevented even at a high pressure in the fluid filter and the filtered water and the filtered fluid remain segregated from each other on the clean side.
In an advantageous development of the fluid filter according to the invention, it is advantageously provided that the first particle filter and the second particle filter form a one-piece filter body with a first hydrophobic particle filter region and with a second hydrophilic particle filter region. For example, the filter body may be made of a material that has neither pronounced hydrophilic properties nor pronounced hydrophobic properties. The hydrophobic first particulate filter region and the second hydrophilic particulate filter region may be defined by a raw hydrophobic surface and a raw hydrophilic surface. For this purpose, it may be provided, for example, that the first particle filter region has a hydrophobic coating on the raw side. Alternatively or additionally, the second particle filter region may have a hydrophilic coating on the raw side. The admixed water is rejected in this way unfiltered by the respective coating of the respective particle filter area or transmitted. Advantageously, in such a designed fluid filter, the production cost and the manufacturing cost can be reduced.
In order also to be able to deposit the admixed water on the clean side, it can be advantageously provided that the fluid outlet is separated on the clean side from the particle filters via an end separator. By Endabscheider the pure-side admixed water can be kept in the fluid filter and thus better protected the internal combustion engine of the motor vehicle. Preferably, the end separator is a hydrophobic Endabscheidersieb through which the admixed water droplets are retained by the fluid outlet. The end separator may extend coaxially therewith at least over a length of the first particulate filter in order to allow a sufficient passage of the fluid to the fluid outlet.
In order to collect the filtered water in the fluid filter, the fluid filter may include a water collection chamber. Advantageously, the water collection chamber is at least partially axially separated from the first particle filter by the second particle filter. In an operating state of the fluid filter, the water collecting chamber is located under the second hydrophilic particle filter, so that the filtered water settles under gravity into the water collecting chamber. Above the second hydrophilic particle filter is in the operating state of the fluid filter, the first hydrophobic particle filter, so that the fluid is on the clean side and raw side above the water. The fluid outlet is arranged on the clean side in such a way that the filtered fluid can flow out of the fluid filter without mixing with the filtered water.
Insgesamt wird in dem erfindungsgemäßen Fluidfilter das zu filternde Fluid bereits rohseitig von dem beigemischten Wasser befreit und auch reinseitig bleiben das gefilterte Fluid und das gefilterte Wasser voneinander getrennt. Auf diese Weise kann das zu filternde Fluid sicher von dem beigemischten Wasser befreit und der Verbrennungsmotor des Kraftfahrzeugs geschützt werden.Overall, in the fluid filter according to the invention, the fluid to be filtered is already freed on the raw side from the admixed water and also on the clean side, the filtered fluid and the filtered water remain separated. In this way, the fluid to be filtered can be safely freed from the admixed water and the engine of the motor vehicle to be protected.
