Description
The invention relates to a method for producing a solder joint between a solder pad of a printed circuit board and a wire connection of an electrical component by means of a printing template.
The term reflow soldering or reflow soldering (soldering reflow soldering) refers to a commonly used in electrical engineering soldering process for soldering SMD components. In the production of thick film hybrid circuits, it is the most common soldering process.
The soldering process during reflow soldering works as follows. In the first step, the soft solder in the form of solder paste is applied to the board / circuit board before placement. This is the main difference to other soldering methods, such as soldering iron soldering, dip soldering or wave soldering. There are various ways of Lotauftrags, z. B. stencil printing (stencil, screen printing), dispensers, by Lotformteile (preforms) or galvanic. In the next step, the components are then populated. The use of solder paste has the advantage that it is sticky and so hold the components in the assembly directly to the paste. So you do not have to be specially glued on. When the leaded solder melts, the assembled components center themselves on the landing pads due to the surface tension and settle. For lead-free solders (eg SnAgCu) this effect is almost completely eliminated (see also RoHS).
A printing template is positioned over the circuit board so that the recesses of the stencil lie centered over the solder pads. In most cases, the recesses are a few hundredths of a millimeter smaller to prevent the solder paste from being printed next to the pad.
The printed circuit board and the printing stencil are pressed against each other and a squeegee pushes the solder paste through the stencil so that the solder paste passes through the recesses of the stencil on the solder pads. The thickness of the printing stencil determines the amount of solder paste per area. In cases where certain terminals require more solder paste, this is not achieved by a larger area of the solder pad, but by later addition of additional solder paste.
Printing stencils are today largely replaced by lasered metal stencils. Thus, smaller structures can be printed better. In order to achieve the required accuracy in printing, printers are used, which allow an accurate alignment of the printing stencil to the solder pads. This can be done either manually or automatically by a camera system that detects marks on the stencil and solder pads and aligns them to each other before printing.
Clamping frames are already known from the prior art. At each clamping bar of the clamping frame two actuated with compressed air clamping cylinder are arranged at a great distance. When tensioning the stencil by means of the clamping frame, the clamping bar is tensioned, resulting in clamping forces in the stencil.
For very narrow solder pads, a part of the solder paste adheres to the stencil during the removal of the stencil. This part of the solder paste is torn off when removing the stencil sheet from the circuit board.
The invention has for its object to provide a method for producing solder joints between a solder pad of a printed circuit board and a wire connection of an electrical component by means of a printing template, wherein the solder paste is not destroyed during the detachment of the stencil printing from the circuit board.
Arranging the printing stencil on the printed circuit board, so that the at least one cutout is arranged on the soldering pad,
Applying a solder paste to the stencil so that the recess is filled with solder paste so that the solder paste touches the solder pad,
Increasing the clamping force of the clamping frame until the printing template partially touches the soldering paste in the recess,
Detaching the printing template from the printed circuit board,
Arranging the wire connection to the soldering paste of the soldering pad,
Solder the solder paste after the reflow process until the solder paste dries and creates a solder joint between the solder pad and the wire connector.
By increasing the clamping force, the stencil is released from the solder paste. As a result, the solder paste is not torn away when destroying the stencil sheet from the circuit board and destroyed.
