Ferner dürfen diese selbst nur ein geringes Eigengewicht haben und sollten im leeren Zustand kompaktierbar sein, um diese platzsparend Zwischenlagern oder zurücktransportieren zu können. Hierfür werden in der Regel klapp- oder faltbare Kunststoffbehälter verwendet. Gleiches gilt für den in GB 2 449 757 A beschriebenen Behälter, bei dem eine Seitenwand lediglich ein Rahmen mit einer großen Displayöffnung vorgesehen ist, oder den Behälter gemäß EP 0 835 816 A2 , bei dem eine U-förmige Ausnehmung in der Seitenwand vorgesehen ist. Bei anderen Systemen, die aus GB 2 068 338 A oder WO 94/10049 A1 bekannt sind, lässt sich zumindest eine Seitenwand nach außen klappen. Dies erfordert jedoch einen entsprechenden Platzbedarf zur Seite bzw. nach vorne, weshalb sich diese Behälter nicht dicht nebeneinander aufstapeln lassen oder umgeklappten Seitenwände die darunter gestapelten Warenbehälter verdeckt.
