Der erfindungsgemäße Diffusor besitzt somit bodenseitige, dem Haartrockner zugewandte Luftauslassöffnungen und ist derart ausgebildet, dass beim Betrieb des Haartrockners eine in dem Diffusor zirkulierende, das heißt kreisende, Luftströmung erzeugt wird, die die Haare in den Diffusor einsaugt und die den Diffusor im Wesentlichen, das heißt üblicherweise überwiegend, über die bodenseitigen Luftauslassöffnungen wieder verlässt. Mit dem erfindungsgemäßen Diffusor kann somit erreicht werden, dass der vom Haartrockner erzeugte trockene Luftstrom effizient zum Trocknen der Haare genutzt werden kann, da die Haare nicht wie bisher bei bekannten Diffusoren von letzterem weggeblasen werden, sondern vielmehr in diesen eingesaugt und vom dort zirkulierenden trocknen Luftstrom getrocknet werden.
