Dieser Zustand ist unerwünscht, da in diesem Zustand der Pumpenantrieb noch im Bereich einer Mischreibung arbeitet. Wird nun die Vordruckpumpe beispielsweise bei einem notfallmäßigen Abstellen der Brennkraftmaschine abgestellt, wird in weiterer Ausgestaltung der Erfindung die von dem Schieberventil beherrschte Absteuerleitung in die Rückführleitung geöffnet. Dies wird dadurch erreicht, dass der Kraftstoffdruck hinter der Vordruckpumpe absinkt und dadurch das Schieberventil von der Absperrstellung in die Absteuerposition verstellt wird. Dadurch wird also der Hochdruckspeicher mit einer Niederdruckleitung verbunden und der Druck in dem Hochdruckspeicher wird auf den Druck des Niederdrucksystems abgesenkt.
